Manassas, VA, February 11, 2012 -- Although he will not appear on the Virginia Presidential primary ballot on March 6, it did not stop Manassas Tea Party members from selecting Rick Santorum as the overwhelming winner in a straw poll conducted at its monthly meeting of members last evening. In the straw poll which also contained the U.S. Senate Virginia seat and Manassas City Council races, Santorum swept the Presidential poll with 67% of the vote but equally interesting was Mitt Romney received no votes. Newt Gingrich was second in the poll with 27% and Ron Paul last with only 9%. I believe the Santorum victory shows the rising national interest in a true conservative candidate, but its a little surprising Romney received no votes, indicated Manassas Tea Party Chairman Craig Summers.
In the local Manassas City Council race where three seats are up for grabs Republican candidates Ian Lovejoy and Jonathan Way won with 34% and 24% respectively as well as Independent candidate Jerry Carman with 26%. The poll would not have re-elected Councilman Mark Wolfe as he came in with only 16% of the vote.

I have debunked several of your “allegations”. What do you call untruths?
I already did and you just ignored it. Crickets. All A-OK with you obviously.
Santorum is just the flavor of the day, he will tank just like the rest of them. If it is between Santorum and Romney ,Romney wins. Our only chance to turn things around is Newt Gingrich.
As Sarah Palin said in her CPAC speech regarding our remaining candidates:
“We do not know who our nominee will be to come up against Burro-ak Oh-bama and his failed policies in the fall - we don’t know who our nominee will be. But we know that this election will be hard fought. Our nominee must be ready, strong, fortefied, passionate, passionate, a fighter for American ideals. Our candidate must be someone who can instinctively TURN RIGHT to constitutional conservarive principles. It’s too late in the game to teach it or to spin it. It’s either there or it isn’t.”
If I post Newt’s own words, his rabid supporters get foaming-at-the-mouth angry. I don’t need to “smear” Newt...he does so all on his own. I’ll nominate him first mayor for the moon colony...will that make you happy?
I know that Santorum stabbed his former mentor in the back.
I will never, ever vote for a person who does such a thing. They can not be trusted.
Yea, the ONLY chance is to pull down one who’s won 4 states and rising for the one who’s won only one state and is DECLINING in the polls...makes “perfect” sense...NOT!
Don’t bother. I have the measure of you, and feel sorry for you.
You’d rather vote for a candidate that stabbed EVERY second-amendment conservative in the back? Makes sense...gee, thanks!
You are suffering from Gingrich derangement syndrome.
She’s not worth our time. She says she’s doing everyone a favor by posting lies because after all, the Demoncrats are going to do it. Theres no reasoning with someone who thinks like that. I’m going to bed.
You’re “measure” is a baby spoon rather than a T.E.A. barrel, so your feigned sympathy matters as much as Newt’s recent “conversion” promoted by his campaign. No worries...I’ll be just fine without it.
Gary P. Jackson, like Anne Coulter, doesn’t like Gingrich.
So what?
Santorum is a corrupt big-government politician who is a liar. Completely untrustworthy.
Does Operation Good Neighbor Foundation sound familiar?
He didn’t even bother to register the foundation with the State, even after skimming off loarge amounts of money for himself and his political cronies.
Wrong again....I just listened to his speeches.
Was that a new Fannie and Freddie outreach program?
LOL!! Santorum, so corrupt he steals from his own charitalbe Foundation!
I suppose the Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac “historian gig” was already taken...too bad!
Gingrich suffers from his own derangement....delusions of grandeur. I do not yet understand from what delusion many of his supporters suffer.
To further your decent into episodes of foaming-at-the-mouth rage regarding Santorum...
“It would be great if he could get to the White House” - Rush Limbaugh
“Santorum...one of the 25 most influential evangelicals in America” - Time Magazine
“Santorum has consistently been protecting the sancticty of life” - Sarah Palin

Interesting, zero votes for Romney but 5% are for the liberal democrat Obama lap dog running for Senate.
Doesn’t look like they like George Allen very much, giving a huge majority to a primary challenger I didn’t even know he had.
Very small sample size but interesting.
” it did not stop Manassas Tea Party members from selecting Rick Santorum as the overwhelming winner in a straw poll “
I love it, and Rick Santorum received 67%. WOW! VA elites sure look silly.
