Democrats’ star speaker Van Jones fires up crowd — and emerges party “leader of the future”?

San Diego – Van Jones, the former Obama Administration green czar who resigned in controversy, appears on the fast track to a political comeback — emerging as a star at this weekend’s California Democratic convention and lauded by House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi as a “leader of the future.”

Jones, who as head of an activist group called “Rebuild the Dream” has become a leading voice of the Occupy movement, was given the star speaking slot to address hundreds at the kickoff Friday night reception here sponsored by state party chair John Burton. To the cheers of the grassroots activists, Jones endorsed a “millionaires’ tax” as a means of firing up younger voters in the 2012 election, saying “that will get their attention.”

While Jones didn’t specify if he was referring to a specific ballot initiative titled the “Millionaire’s Tax,” or the general idea of taxing the top 1 percent income earners, he argued that under-30 voters critical to Democratic successes in 2012 will find appealing “the idea that the people that already climbed that ladder (of success) will give something back.”

Jones repeatedly won cheers when he defined what he said were the issues and challenges faced by Democrats — and President Barack Obama — as the 2012 election approaches.

...lauded by House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi as a “leader of the future.”

Is he enough of a Communist to become a prominent leader of the democrat party?

He’s too much of a communist; that’s why he resigned when Beck and others exposed him. Think Stalin-level.

This ain’t your mother’s Democratic Party.

And, it ain’t your grandfather’s Democratic Party either. It’s not at all unlikely that he fought in a war to defend the US from the ideological forebears of the modern Democratic Party’s “leaders of the future”.

Yes. And, Zer0 is laying the groundwork for the likes of Van Jones. The 47% that pay no taxes are being conditioned to demand a Chavez.

Nothing like the rabble of a committed Marxist to get all the rats slobbering at the trough. The anticipation of a communist Amerika is almost more joy than they can handle.

PolitiFact

There's little question that Jones was an avowed communist.

In a Nov. 2, 2005, profile of Jones in the East Bay Express , an alternative weekly in Berkeley, Calif., Jones said his life hit a turning point in the spring of 1992 when he was swept up in mass arrests while protesting the acquittal of police officers accused of beating Rodney King.

Although the charges against Jones were dropped, Jones said that while in jail, "I met all these young radical people of color — I mean really radical, communists and anarchists. And it was, like, 'This is what I need to be a part of.' I spent the next 10 years of my life working with a lot of those people I met in jail, trying to be a revolutionary."

"In the months that followed," the Express article said, "he let go of any lingering thoughts that he might fit in with the status quo. 'I was a rowdy nationalist on April 28th, and then the verdicts came down on April 29th,' he said. 'By August, I was a communist.'"

In 1994, the story states, Jones formed a socialist collective called Standing Together to Organize a Revolutionary Movement, or STORM.

According to a history of STORM written in the spring of 2004, the group held "structured political education" training at every meeting "to help members develop an understanding of the basics of Marxist politics." They "trained members on capitalism and wage exploitation, the state and revolution, imperialism and the revolutionary party."

So Jones was a self-avowed communist.

Yet this inane "PolitiFact" says Glenn Beck's claim is "mostly false." They'd probably say the same about Lenin, Stalin, Trotsky, et al. Commie thug dictator types do not change their spots. To them freedom and liberty are like sunlight to vampires.

That’s why he’s a Democratic star.

The ironic part is most of the old commie countries have gone in the other direction.

The irony is, if he'd been arrested by a communist government and police force, he'd likely still be rotting in that jail, or dead. But, I guess that doesn't register with him.

It makes sense he would be friends with Obama, someone who holds his parents' ideology in high regard, even though they treated him like a throw-away piece of garbage.

Unbelievable.

Never underestimate, or scoff at the power or condition of the new American Left. Especially in the coming months of this 2012 election. Obama has been very busy behind closed doors and the result will not be known until they hit us with his agenda from behind.

"Jones repeatedly won cheers when he defined what he said were the issues and challenges faced by Democrats "

Jones repeatedly won cheers when he repeatedly defined what he said were the issues and challenges faced by Democrats.

Unless Jones has taken some public speaking classes, this is a more likely scenario.
