I’m suddenly reminded of Rodney Dangerfield’s speech in Back to School:
“First of all you’re going to have to grease the local politicians for the sudden zoning problems that always come up. Then there’s the kickbacks to the carpenters, and if you plan on using any cement in this building I’m sure the teamsters would like to have a little chat with ya, and that’ll cost ya. Much, much less if government and shyster politicians like yourself aren't involved!
When I built my home I got all my contractors and quotes lined up in writing, threw in every item I could conceivably think of on top of that, added them all up, then added 25%.
that figure was within $1k on my building loan which totaled in at $212k.
Give the unions a charge number and they will run it up lining their pockets. No more complicated than that.
The bigger the project, the bigger the graft.
