Santorum takes lead in Tennessee
CNN ^ | February 10, 2012 | Kevin Liptak

Rick Santorum is running ahead of his rivals in Tennessee, a stronghold of evangelical Christians that votes on March 6, Super Tuesday.

Thirty four percent of likely Republican primary voters said they were backing Santorum, while 27% named Mitt Romney, 16% backed Newt Gingrich and 13% picked Ron Paul. The poll was taken by American Research Group February 8-9, when voters would have known about Santorum's sweep of voting contests in Missouri, Minnesota and Colorado.

The only reason that Romney’s still running is to hand the nomination to Paul.”

Now there’s an original analysis. I think Paul could beat Obamalini, but I don’t see how under any circumstances he could get the nomination.

Yes, actually I do believe Newt will do what he said he will do. The Contract With America was delivered in large part by his leadership.

I won’t cry too many tears over a teacher who would now be labled a sexual predator, who seduced her student (Newt’s first wife). I imagine there was a lot of damage that carried over into his second marriage, to someone who also was unstable. Not everyone has a neat and tidy personal life, but I will take a Repentant Sinner over a Pharisee any day.

Newt is on the side of the People in the actions he plans to take. He is not about imposing his will, nor that of the Establishment in Washington. That they are opposed to him speaks volumes.

You are dead on with your post about PA. Santorum is a blue collar Conservative. For those of us who were engaged in PA politics Rick was well known as a Conservative, even though he tends to be a blue collar / labor guy. That is the influence of Western PA where he was a Congressman, and should play very well in PA, Ohio and possibly Michigan.

Both Newt and Rick are solid Conservatives, and anyone thinking Newt is a better general election candidate against Obama is simply not paying attention to his very high negatives. I am NOT saying Newt is anything less then a true "big ideas" Conservative. I am just reacting to some poor debate performances following his SC win coupled with very high negatives in the polls. If I am wrong, then tell me why. No need to trash Santorum to make the point about Newt.

In the realm of really, really desperate mudslinging, your post #8 could be king.

27% named [conservative] Mitt Romney...

The conservative, Mitt Romeny, is basically playing a game of conservative whack-a-mole. If he (the conservative) whacks at Newt in the lead, it will knock Newt's numbers down below conservative Myth's... while causing Santorums to rise above Myth's (who is the conservative in this race). Then, he takes a whack at Santorum, dropping him in the polls, that makes Newt rise again. All the while, the conservative, Romeny, remains steady... 27% (conservatively-speaking).

Contrast that to Romneys cottonwool background...

George Romney picked Ann Davies out for Sonny Boy Willard when she was only 15 and took her into his own home to live so she could learn about Mormonism and how to be a Mormon wife...

Wille Mitty never did have to be alone out in the real world and fend for himself...

One wonders how he would have turned out given the same challenges that Newt had...

Dittos. The Oval Office needs a deep cleaning, and Newt has my vote in Tennessee to get the job done.

Actually the RomneyBot Left in TN are probably crying ...

About that crying...

The night Bill Clinton won ...in 1992...

all around the large room where we Republicans were meeting for the election results..

The Read House, Chattanooga, TN...

There were businessmen etc in expensive suits down on their knees crying into chairs..

loud and uncaring who heard them...

they were devastated...

I wanted to slap them they were so disgusting...

well they had forced George Bush the moderate on us again...

and it didnt work...

Expect a repeat of the shameful ninnies and their childish display again this time if they manage to give us the liberal Romney...

This time I wont be nice...I dont have to be...

Im 20 years older...

at 63 I can be as mean and crotchety as I want to...

“Get up from there...Act like a man !!!”

LOL

You do realize that Foster Friess met with Romney?

That Friess gave millions to Romney in 2008 and all of a sudden is bankrolling Santorum just to take enough delegates from Gingrich to put Romney over the top?

That Santorum was literally broke until Friess stepped in ?

That Friess will cut his funding as soon as Gingrich drops out?

That Romney’s proxy is paying for Santorum to stay in the race?

There is no momentum, only gullible fools, easily manipulated by MYTH and the GOP establishment.

Santorum / Gingrich
Gingrich / Santorum

Let them both show up at the convention , and let their delegates decide. But Join forces against Obama-Lite (Romney)!

The TN Republican Primary is March 6. There are only 6 uncommitted delegates and zero delegates committed to Santorum. See page 2 of our sample ballot: http://www.knoxcounty.org/election/2012elections/pdfs/sample_ballot.pdf

George’s dad had enough wives that he should have been able to get along with at least two or three at a time.

Mormon wives are programmed and thoroughly brainwashed. Ask Tricia Erickson.

Mitt has been groomed from childhood to run for President, according to the Mormon Political Agenda.

It makes reasonable people shake their heads in wonder that anyone would vote for a man who believes that God lives on the planet Kolab. Can there be any doubt that someone that brainwashed is not Presidential material?

What are folks saying about the race in your area?

>>If Rick Santorum ends up as our nominee, we are going to lose the election by 10+ points. Sorry, Santorum lost his home state by 18 the last time around - he’d be destroyed by Obama.<<

I used to feel the same way about his loss in 2006. How do you lose that badly? I no longer do, however. It was a weird year, PA was leaning Democrat, and his opponent was respected and ran as both pro-life, and pro-gun, hardly traditional Democrat stances.

As for his beating Democrats, this is how he got started in 1990 (from Wikipedia): In 1990, at age 32, Santorum was elected to the U.S. House of Representatives to represent Pennsylvania’s 18th congressional district, located in the eastern suburbs of Pittsburgh. He scored a significant upset in the heavily Democratic district, defeating seven-term Democratic incumbent Doug Walgren by a 51%-49% margin. During his campaign Santorum repeatedly criticized Walgren for living outside the district for most of the year. Although the 18th District was redrawn for the 1992 elections, and the new district had a 3:1 ratio of registered Democrats to Republicans, Santorum still won re-election with 61% of the vote.

Looks like he’s capable of winning Independents to me.

As for his support for Spector, Wikipedia reports: “ Reporters have observed that though Santorum and Specter differed on social policy, Specter provided him with key political staff for his successful run in 1994.”

That was when he won his Senate seat, beating a Democrat incumbent, something that’s usually very difficult to accomplish.

I have no trouble thinking that Santorum can beat Obama. He certainly won’t lose by 10 points in the current environment.
