Carville: GOP, your real problem is Mitt
CNN ^ | 2/10/2012 | James Carville

Memo to the Republican Establishment, Part II.

First of all, let me apologize for not getting back to you sooner. I realize it's been 15 days since I've penned (as the Mittster would say) my last memo to you. . . . Good manners dictate that I convey my most heartfelt congratulations to you for what you did to old Newt in your aggressive ad campaign. I mean, you guys really did him in. As we say in Louisiana, you made minced meat out of that boy.

You rounded up a bunch of Wall Street money and turned it over to the Willie Horton ad guy to destroy one of your own. You boys really crack me up . . . I don't think we Democrats could come up with something quite so clever. You have accomplished quite a feat.

The problem that you have now is not Newt. It may take a few months, but you will get him under control. Your in-house network -- the boys over at Fox . . . thought they had wired Newt up to go positive, but they found out it is difficult to control a Tulane man. Don't worry, he just got sucker punched. Soon enough he and all of his "baggage" will be sent packing. . . .

You know how it goes, you squish one gnat and you gotta deal with another. Your latest nuisance comes in the form of an anti-contraception activist and 18-point loser, Rick Santorum. . . . I know you don't need my help in disposing of this loser.

The problem you have now is the same problem you've had all along. It's the Mittster -- and it's a big problem. . . . [snip]

“Come to think of it, thanks to the Republican-created financial crisis, there are a lot more poor people in rural and suburban America causing problems for you. In fact, you boys created a slew of poor people, didn’t you? But we will get back to that in late October.”

Screw this ugly jackass...republicans created all the poor people, huh?

How about ACORN’s senator, Bath-House Barry? He’s the foodstamp pimp, and ACORN saw to it that people that should have rented got loans for houses they couldn’t afford from banks based on their “public assistance, food stamp, Social Security benefits—ACORN called this “non-traditional” income!!!

Get bent, Carville- you ugly liberal snake.

could somebody explain this paragraph, please, because I think Carville is a jerk but he knows hard politics:

“The problem that you have now is not Newt. It may take a few months, but you will get him under control. Your in-house network — the boys over at Fox (I’m sorry, Greta, I meant the people over at Fox) — thought they had wired Newt up to go positive, but they found out it is difficult to control a Tulane man. Don’t worry, he just got sucker punched. Soon enough he and all of his “baggage” will be sent packing. Newt is fighting now, but he will come around as I am sure the Koch brothers are in need of a good historian. Get my drift? Newt’s post-primary employment is the kind of thing that needs to be discussed in quiet rooms.

what does “the boys over at Fox (I’m sorry, Greta, I meant the people over at Fox) — thought they had wired Newt up to go positive” mean?

what does “Newt’s post-primary employment is the kind of thing that needs to be discussed in quiet rooms” mean?

what does “Soon enough he and all of his “baggage” will be sent packing.” mean - it sound more ominous than losing in the normal process of primaries...

anyone who can help, thanks very much.

If we have learned anything this year, it’s that the electorate is labile. There are lots of independent type people that can be swayed. Those are the people we need to target.

It’s Carville. Of course he’s not going to admit that the Democrats have, exceedingly well, created the number of poor in this country by their own hand.

Having said that, the point of the article is what the GOP-e has done to Newt and how they’ve got Rinomey as their choice....so they’re sending their attack dogs on all the other candidates. Partisan rhetoric aside, Carville’s right about much of his criticism concerning what the GOP-e has done and is doing to the presidential candidates, and how that will even likely drag the harm done and spread into the November elections.

I think what he was trying to say about the ‘go positive’ is the talking heads at Faux News kept saying that Newt’s numbers were going down when he started going negative against Romney....so, they were attempting to tell Newt not to ‘whine’ and criticize Romney (that’s what I think Carville meant).

As to the other comment as to Newt’s being a historian, I took that to me an implied threat to their own skeletons in the closet; they might want to be careful: Newt might find a job exposing some of their own, post-election, should he not be elected. He might go on his own ‘seek and destroy’ mission.

Yep; what Bush did his last few years in office....I take issue with much of it. He oversaw what Bernanke and Hank Paulson were doing, what the SEC was doing (and not doing)....I cannot forgive him for these things. That’s about all I’ll say about that.

And then there was old Lord McCain poking his dirty finger into the eye of the American people every chance he got. I am so totally relieved he climbed up into Mitt's chariot. I am not sure I could have handled him really taking a stand for US.

Now it is 'funny' that Mitt's core funding seems not only to be the leftist pretend 'devil' Wall Street, but also the gamblers. Any more of these rich gamblers sign onto Romney's wagon and they will have to rename his campaign 'gambler's anonymous.

Some days it is really difficult to say our foreign enemies are more of a threat to US than the domestic ones, including old serpent head.

I loathe him; and you're right, it would have been totally out of character for him to pretend now to care about the Constitution and Bill of Rights.

I agree; what's even sadder is that so many Americans don't even realize it.

I admit, I got so incensed after reading that portion of the article, I just blew up.....BUT....WTF!?! WHY would Carville deign to give “pointers” to the Republicans???
Unless Mary hit him over that ugly head with a fry pan (and I don’t trust HER entirely), what is his motive???

I just found this statement: “Newt’s post-primary employment is the kind of thing that needs to be discussed in quiet rooms” and “you’ll get him under control in a few months” - very ominous like blackmail, or some sort of legal action, or more new skeletons... I listen to Carville when I can, I like the way he fights, just not who he fights...

That’s the question. I have no clue. I can only think that, perhaps, in part, to taunt? Since he’s writing this in stone (very succinctly and in their face), it’s quite likely many more are whispering / admitting it behind closed doors and it leaked out. And perhaps too, now, because it appears too late. There’s really nothing the GOP-e can do; they’ve opened their Pandora’s Box.....and it will be to their own demise. So, he’s gloating too, perhaps.

Remember the Florida debate when Mitt was lying through his teeth... such as the vast amount of money he made off his Fannie/Freddie investments were done so in a 'blind' trust.... http://www.boston.com/Boston/politicalintelligence/2011/09/romney-pummels-profits-from-fannie-freddie/a2YN7UoFKXQHW1RzAiaW4J/index.html The liberals are going to clean his 1% clock, he will be the 'devil' of greed when they get finished with him....

The above story is not new from 09/19/2011, yet old Mitt could not help himself but stutter around and pretend otherwise.

Oh, my, do you not know yet that the 'bain-washed' PROUD -GOP Establishment consider it devil talk to describe their Capital'ISM' as vulture economics? (Better described as Keynesian economics.) I have tried to comprehend exactly where I a mere peasant, would go out here in fly-over country to purchase me some 'Bain'!!!!
