Senior administration officials are pleased with the initial response to President Obamas pending announcement on an accommodation for religious organizations regarding the rule requiring employers to provide health insurance that covers birth control. Though theyre on opposite sides of the birth control and abortion debate, both Sister Carol Keehan, the president and CEO of the Catholic Health Association, and Cecile Richards, president of Planned Parenthood Federation of America, issued statements Friday morning applauding the compromise, which allows religious organizations to keep contraception out of its coverage while requiring the insurance companies to step in and offer contraceptive coverage to the female employees.

“Sister Carol Keehan, the president and CEO of the Catholic Health Association”
I’m sure her “support” was lined up before the president even spoke.
But see, “now it’s perfectly OK for Catholics to support the compromise...”
The president has still ordered private companies to pay for something which may be against their conscience. It is not only the church as an institution that may object to providing abortions; private companies are made up of private people who may also object to providing abortions.
If it is evil for a church to provide abortions, it is also evil for a private company to do it.
In any case, if a president can order you to do something, and you have to do it, this is no longer a free country.
Does this woman represent the church? If so, they have compromised their souls and made a deal with the devil himself.
tools.
No, she does not.
CHA created a firestorm within the Catholic Church when it defied the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops and came out in support of Barack Obama's health care overhaul, the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act.[1] The USCCB believes the overhaul provides for taxpayer funded abortion; the CHA said this was a "false claim".[2] CHA was heavily criticized for subverting the bishops, who have doctrinal authority in the Church while nuns do not. At least one bishop, Thomas Joseph Tobin of the Diocese of Providence, withdrew his diocese's hospitals from membership in the CHA, saying, "Your enthusiastic support of the legislation, in contradiction of the bishops of the United States, provided an excuse for members of Congress, misled the public and caused a serious scandal for many members of the church" and said it was "embarassing" to be associated with the CHA.[3] Archbishop Joseph Naumann said Keehan, who met with Obama before endorsing the bill,[4] was "incredibly naive or disingenuous" for saying that the bill prevented taxpayer funding of abortions.[5] Cardinal Francis George, who was president of the USCCB at the time, reported that he and other bishops tried to reach out to Keehan both before and after the vote; he also said that in choosing Obama over the Church, she had "weakened the moral voice of the bishops in the U.S."[6]
No, she only represents the liberal Catholic group known as the Catholic Health Assn., which was solidly for Obama in 2008, and helped push for Obamacare.
She represents herself, and she has been reprimanded by various bishops several times for her statements, which virtually always disagree with Church teaching. However, until her bishop actually does something about her...such as tell her order to remove her from her position or silence her...she’s going to be misleading Catholics all over the country and teaching her “magisterium of nuns.”
The latter refers to the feminist nuttiness spouted by certain female religious orders in opposition to Church doctrine. And the bishops have let it happen and now don’t know what to do.
Not directly but she is a nun and head of “Catholic Health Assn” which give the MSM all they need to claim “Catholics” supported ObamaCare and now are happy with this “accomdation”. Someone with power in the CC needs to strip the “Catholic” out of “Catholic Health”.
Sister Carol Keehan was instrumental in getting Obamacare passed...:

She not only doesn’t represent the Church, she doesn’t even represent Catholic health providers!
Thank G-d! Has Cardinal Dolan said anything yet? I am Jewish. I don’t know so much about the hierarchy of the Roman Catholic Church or who speaks for whom. But I am watching this outrage and it is unspeakable.
Sr. Keehan ... it’s smoke and mirrors. He snuck it in through a side door and you’ll still be footing the bill for it. WAKE UP!!!!!
So true.
The wait for word from some Church spokesman is becoming unbearable. If the official Church caves (which isn’t out of the question), it’s going to be incredibly difficult to pursue the Constitutional side of the issue. The Constitutional angle works only if the affected group feels agrieved.
Sister Keehan is a whore.
"She not only doesnt represent the Church, she doesnt even represent Catholic health providers!"
Exactly. People need to speak up loudly this time and drown out her self-aggrandizing, narcissistic nonsense.
This is why she was removed from the board of Holy Family Hospital.
