The age-old hobby of tossing a football or Frisbee on the beach on a beautiful summer day in Los Angeles will cost you a cool $1,000 thanks to a new ordinance passed by the Board of Supervisors Tuesday.
Claiming that such activity could be dangerous to other beachgoers, the Supes outlawed "any person to cast, toss, throw, kick or roll any ball, tube, or any light object other than a beach ball or beach volleyball on or over a beach.
Anecdotal nonsense.
Last cold was about 37 years ago last case of the flu was about 27 years ago. Book larned people believe junk science and other modern superstition.
What do oncologists know about lung cancer?
Really!
All that book learning.
I suppose you will tell me that chimney sweeps didn’t get testicular cancer either?
That would hardly be “modern”.
That 3.5% of non-smokers get it and 7% of smokers. IOWs only 7 out of 100 smokers contract lung cancer.
Lung cancer aint the only problem I listed, it isn’t even the only major health problem, and doubling your risk of it doesn’t sound fun to me.
Remember now....
Smokers are statistically more likely to die early, have major health problems, including impotence, have less education and less wealth
Changing the subject would help you immensely.
That would hardly be modern.
Then that would be a non-sequitur in response to my point wouldn't it?
This is just over the top.
I will never, ever, never, ever visit california in my lifetime.
I would rather vacation in Kabul.
Las Vegas is the closest i would ever venture towards the left coast and that destination is pretty much off my list now as well after the throngs of illegal mexican gangsters i saw infesting the place last Spring, all glaring at me like I was the one who didn’t belong.
I used to go every Spring for the past 12 years, not any more.
That town better clean up is crap.
Are you really that dense?
Statistical correlation was how they found the association between chimney sweeps and testicular cancer.
Just as there is between smoking and lung cancer.
If such an association cannot be said to be modern - it is hardly some newfangled concept.
Follow?
I am still only 57 so that benchmark has yet to be achieved but the rest doesn't seem to be manifesting for me.
You like scientific studies. Here are some scientific studies.
Smoking Does Not Cause Lung Cancer (According to WHO/CDC Data)*Smoking lowers Parkinson's disease risk
Impact of Smoking on Clinical and Angiographic Restenosis After Percutaneous Coronary Intervention
Background Recent studies have suggested that smokers may require less frequent repeated revascularization after percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) compared with nonsmokers. However, the mechanism of this phenomenon is unknown.
Conclusions In patients undergoing contemporary PCI, cigarette smoking is associated with a lower rate of subsequent TLR without affecting angiographic restenosis. These findings have important implications for the follow-up of smokers after PCI and suggest that cross-study comparisons of rates of clinical restenosis must account for the potential confounding effect of smoking.
Does tobacco smoke prevent atopic disorders? A study of two generations of Swedish residents.
CONCLUSIONS: This study demonstrates an association between current exposure to tobacco smoke and a low risk for atopic disorders in smokers themselves and a similar tendency in their children.
Shocker: 'Villain' nicotine slays TB
Nicotine might be a surprising alternative someday for treating stubborn forms of tuberculosis, a University of Central Florida researcher said Monday.
1. Smoking lowers risk of knee-replacement surgery
2. Smoking lowers risk of Parkinson's disease
3. Smoking lowers risk of obesity
4. Smoking lowers risk of death after some heart attacks
5. Smoking helps the heart drug clopidogrel work better
You're the one who said...
That would hardly be modern.
Yes, and I would say it again.
The risk of a behavior being associated with increased risk of cancer is hardly some nefangled concept.
It would hardly be modern science.
More like basic methodology.
Smokers are statistically more likely to die early, have major health problems, including impotence, have less education and less wealth
Apparently you don't see that the two statements stand as direct contradictions to each other. So, which one would you say again or would you simply repeat them both? LOL
Apparently you couldn't see what I was talking about in the first place.
Now after explaining it to you, you think you have me in a contradiction?
Whatever dude.
Smoke em if you got em.
Just throw them away responsibly - unlike the majority of your health problem ridden low class littering low education impotent brethren.
That would hardly be modern.
Those two statements mean the same thing? I sure don't see where you explained that. I think I see the problem here. You're nuts! LOL
Opinion. Emotional blather. Culture of victimhood mentality.
US Constitution, Amendment VIII
Excessive bail shall not be required, nor excessive fines imposed, nor cruel and unusual punishments inflicted.
I understand completely.
LA County Sheriff Dept and other police departments routinely set-up checkpoints where the verify driver’s license, insurance and vehicle registration. If you don’t have these items, they impound your vehicle. But a couple of months ago, they decided not to impound the vehicles of illegal aliens because it places too much hardship upon them. Yet, if you’re a citizen or legal resident, they WILL impound your vehicle. Whatever happened to equal protection under the law?
California is so screwed up that my wife and I are preparing to sell our business and relocate to another state. When we leave, the state will lose 25 jobs.
Piss on ‘em!
Where did u go from the hell-hole? I am there, now, but am pondering the move you went through.
Thanks for the ping!
Uh, my daughter and her boyfriend both smoke. They also have advanced engineering degrees and six-figure per year jobs with a large defense contractor.
