When gay couples first sought the right to legally wed in California, they argued that they were entitled to all of the benefits of marital bliss.
It was only a matter of time before that benefit extended to the right to split up.

Robin Tyler filed for divorce from Diane Olson on Jan. 25. The pair were among 14 same-sex couples who originally challenged the ban in 2008.
In an exclusive interview with NBC4, Tyler spoke about her decision.
"We're human and we went through difficult times," Tyler said. The marriage ran its course, she said.
Tyler and Olson have known each other for 40 years and were together as a couple for 18. They were the poster couple for gay and lesbian rights.
When they wed, in June of 2008, they had gone to the Beverly Hills Courthouse every year for seven years to apply for -- and be denied -- a marriage license.
The ceremony on the steps of the same courthouse was a monumental moment for gay couples everywhere.
"I don't know how to describe it -- I wanted this all my life," Olson told the Jewish Journal that day. "Every time I went to a girlfriend's wedding, and when my brother got married, it was something I always wanted for myself. It looks like God must have wanted it for me, too."
In November 2008 voters passed Prop. 8, banning gay marriage. Tyler and the thousands of other gay and lesbian couples who wed before Nov. 4, 2008, were allowed to remain married but same-sex couples who wanted to get married were forbidden under the new law.
During the prolonged litigation over Prop. 8, Olson marveled at the scope of the ban.

Perhaps it was time to either clean the carpet or get all new.
“It looks like God must have wanted it for me, too.”
Why would God want Sodom and Gomorrah all over again?
Guilty!!
Oops, wrong type of thread . . .
“We’re human and we went through difficult times,” Tyler said. The marriage ran its course, she said.”
This about sums up the attitude of those who choose this lifestyle.
They protested for the right to marry for seven years, and the marriage lasted maybe three...
Unfortunately, it sums up the attitude of many heterosexual couples, as well ... and they are more likely - natural processes - to have children to be put through the wringer.
Okay, who gets custody of the dildo?................
Their reason for marriage ran its course once they had the fun of a wedding ceremony to celebrate their activist victory.
And, yes, I’m afraid that some normal marriages fall apart for the same reason sans the activism.
Oh, he’s governor through at least 2015.
Expect more of this. I should have become a divorce lawyer. If gay marraige becomes legal, there will be big money for divorce lawyers due to the overwhelming case load.
Gee, never could have seen this coming. Once they were out of the spot light and actually had to live a regular life away from the cameras and media (like real married couples do) they discovered it was hard work, and they didn’t want to do it any more. Just one more incident of two self-absorbed people, thinking it’s all about them, no commitment to each other, just to the idea.
He's running low on salt, maybe? Sorry, couldn't resist...
It sounds like she figures it is a disease.
It sounds like she figures it is a disease.
They weren’t content with just doing things that normal married couples do: recharge the vibrators, oil the dildos, clean the Snap-on-Tools, trim their hedges.
No. They had to have bells and continual music in their lives.
Fortunately they’re still young and attractive and can get on with their lives with other partners.
Even remotely comparing this ‘coupling’ to a normal marriage is not proper thinking. (That is considering if whether or not there is anything left of a polite society.)
Why do all lesbians look like middle-age truck drivers wearing a wig?
The novelty wore off and the fame disappeared, hence the reason to be married no longer existed.
Middle-age truck drivers will not be happy with you for saying that, watch out for big rigs creeping up behind you :^)
