The Turkish news is reporting that Iran Quds forces are marching into Syria to quash the rebellion. The Tatler reported:
According to the Turkish newspaper, Sabah, the commander of the Quds forces, Qassem Soleimani and 15,000 of his fighters have entered Syria with the mission of assisting in the suppression of the Syrian protestors. The Quds forces will act as a firewall for the Assad regime as the Syrian army is finding itself in a difficult situation where many officers are joining the opposition because they do not approve of the mass killings of the civilians, which so far has taken the lives of more than 5,000 people.

Syria is ruled by the minority Shiites(Alawite sect), over a majority of Sunnis in the population. Iran wants the Shiites to maintain rule, the Sunni Saudis and Muslim Brotherhood wants the Shiites overthrown and replaced by Sunnis.
From my perspective, there are no good guys (except the minority Christians caught in the middle). The ideal would be if the fighting forces of both sides killed each other off.
Popcorn time.
I agree...let God sort them out.
“If this whole thing doesnt remind you of Lucy and the Candy Factory, I dont know what does.”
LOL,,,post of the day
You know, i like that graphic. And i notice something. I have never seen so many neckties that shade of green on politicians, as i have in the last year.
Has this become a “shout out” to the muslims?
Yep...this could not have been done without Russia agreeing to it. It's a time to be aware for certain....most know that Syria IS Irans front against Israel.
Will be more than interesting to see Israels reaction, and there will be one, and if Obama even speaks to this. I have said before NAtions are being brazenly bold since Obama took office and do not see Obama as an issue now in their agendas...he simply has no clout whatsoever.
Simply Google ‘Iranians in Latakia’ for any number of sources.
No, but the resistance could use a few American Engineered IEDs. Turn around is fair play.

Ahhhhh,, that was sublime. kuddos sir,,
Are you saying that Iran already has a fully equipped division sized Special Forces presence in that city? Where did you get that info? Pls cite.
There’s video of Irianian Ships arriving at the port in Latakia Syria if googled as well. So they have been steady to keep the arrangement Iran made with Syria on use of the Port. I’ll check to see if I can pull one.
It was a question/hypothesis, not statement of fact.
Just pointing out there are other ways to move troops.
The 'Rat Lines' to/from Syria that so vexed our troops in Iraq are still there. Turkey has captured numerous truckloads of Iranian arms headed for Syria.
The FSA has detained on several occasions, 'Iranian engineers' or 'pilgrims.' Sheep-dipped I suspect, just as we did in Laos with our own troops.I suspect Iranian SF would be utilized as SAS and French Foreign Legion were in Libya. As force multipliers.

Understood...and I'm just pointing out that Iran lacks the capability to move a combat division with its required support by sea.
Now, if you want to talk about airlift capability...they could do that using commercial aircraft of their own or via contract with Venezuela (with whom they have existing agreements to deliver who-knows-what to our hemisphere)...it would take longer and they would have to transit Iraqi airspace, but it could be done.
If Iran has got 15,000 of them, they ain’t that special.
Here you have Russian ships entering Syria’s waters in July of this last year....so they are arming up between Iran,Russia in Syria’s defense...should any attempt be made to interfer with the Syrian Revolt. But this can also be used as an excuse to arm against Israel as we watch the Middle East dynamics highten....it’s not good no matter what view one looks at it.

I believe they are using the conflict in Syria to get boots on the ground in preperation for when they go to war with Israel.
