Movieguide: Conservative movies make more money than liberal ones Alexandra Myers - The Daily Caller 56 mins ago
Being a liberal or a conservative doesnt only matter in politics it matters in the box office, too. Movieguide, the Christian family guide to movies and entertainment, did a report showing that conservative movies make more money than liberal ones.
The Hollywood Reporter writes that the criteria Movieguide used to rate movies include whether a title promotes capitalism or socialism, or if it promotes or degrades biblical principles. Hot political issues, such as violence, feminism and homosexuality, are also considered.
Movieguide gave high scores to seven out of ten movies that were among the top ten films of 2011. This means they qualify as films with strong or very strong Christian, biblical, moral, and redemptive content.
There were 91 movies in 2011 that scored high in conservative/moral catagories, Movieguide reported, compared to the 105 that scored high in liberal/leftist catagories.
The difference, though, is that the 91 movies scored conservative earned an average of $59 million each, while the 105 liberal movies earned an average of $11 million each.
Patriotism and traditional values, like those displayed in Thor, The Artist, Soul Surfer and Hugo, are what moviegoers want, Movieguide wrote.

I don’t doubt this.
And PG and PG-13 movies make more money for Hollywood than R rated movies. But guess which types of movies Hollywood makes more of?
It doesn’t make sense, huh? But Hollyweird would rather pump out filth than make a buck or two.
It seems to me that someone could make a “hyper-conservative” movie, showing liberals and leftists for what they are, as long as the actors are wearing enough makeup so that they cannot be identified.
It would have to be direct to DVD, as theaters wouldn’t run it, and no distributor would touch it. Importantly, it couldn’t have an overriding religious theme because then it could just be dismissed as a religious movie.
Much of it would cover the gamut of foul liberalism and leftism, but without referencing real people.
Showing the horrible hypocrisy, racism, sexism, antisemitism, anti-American, anti-religious, authoritarian and oppressive, perverted, stupid and hateful side of liberals and the left. All wrapped in lies, cheating, sanctimony and pseudo-intellectualism.
How they corrupt everything they touch, and curse those who are fair and honest in any way.
If it had real bite, it would make a fortune.
my dream script would be written by Iowahawk
ever heard of Atlas Shrugged the Movie? Part 2 coming up this year.
And the flip side to all this is:
I am sure liberal/America hating films win more awards than conservative films.
And I’ll that I can’t wait to see Act Of Valor.
I just watched Courageous over the weekend. Very good movie made by a conservative Baptist Church group about fatherhood. This same group made the movies Facing the Giants, and Fireproof. Fireproof stayed around at the theaters for several weeks, and grossed several million dollars. I think the movie was made for only $500,000 or less.
Seems to work for TV, too, considering NCIS’s standing.
(Yeah, I know, they occasionally go PC with persecuted Muslims and CIA bad-apples, but the basic structure about personal loyalty, loyalty to country, the loving portrayal of the USMC, and the fact that often enough there really are Al Qaeda types as bad-guys still puts the show solidly in the conservative category.)
And yet Hollyweird continues to make movies that they know will offend most of their potential customers. Further proof that these people are not rational...
We just saw the movie The Secrets Of Jonathan Sperry and Courageous at our church. Not an empty seat in the house.
Confusing. Is Act of Valor any good?
The thing is, the brass in Hollywood have plenty of money anyway. After a certain amount, you can afford any material thing that you want. You simply don’t need anymore money.
So what to do with the excess? Why acquire power, that’s what, to inflict their own vile, perverted worldview on everyone else.
And that’s why these types of movies keep getting made.
If they would “follow the money” and make more movies most people want instead of using consumers’ funds to hijack our culture, maybe the ticket prices would be more reasonable.
I find this conclusion a little tenuous. The movies mentioned are hardly overtly “conservative”. Conservative movies like Atlas Shrugged barely make a blip. How much money have conservative documentaries made - they don’t even come close to liberal documentaries. And conservatives seem to always bomb on comedies.
Just so they can choose their fare...
Some suck at the boob of the Hollywood tube
Then vote liberally with blank glassy stares.
Conservatives tend towards subtlety in their writings. What is needed is a brickbat. At their sharpest tongued, put together Ann Coulter, Michelle Malkin, Ted Nugent and several other caustic and harsh writers, only then soften it up with a bit of IowaHawk’s Will Rogers.
Pull no punches, for once.
Did you buy Atlas Shrugged?
Agree with all you said. I’m to the point of puking every time I hear a republican say anything about “reaching across the aisle”. Those people have to be kicked out of the Republican Party. Start with Boehner and Steele and the such. Romney too.
Yeah, I think Ann Coulter just wrote a movie script titled “Mittens”
Interesting. According to these people, the number of liberal films (105) and the number of conservative films (91) is pretty close
