Nowhere is the haughtiness of American politics better displayed than with our dueling former Speakers. The latest love spat between Newt Gingrich and Nancy Pelosi illuminates Americas sorry political state. She keeps coyly insinuating she knows something and will time its release for maximum damage.
It appears Mr. Gingrich is finished anyway, and Im no fan. His infidelities trouble me. His overarching concern seems to be Newt Gingrich, a not uncommon trait in politicians, but hardly the attribute of a transcendent leader. His prior associations with Mrs. Pelosi promoting Cap and Trade and frequent policy flip-flops reveal an unscrupulous opportunist. While ultimately exonerated of ethics charges, questions linger.
Gingrich highlights what ails the GOP. On his watch Republicans preaching fiscal restraint backslid into apostasy by bedding K Street. After serving as Speaker, Gingrich represented Freddie Mac and hopped on the Cap and Trade bandwagon. Its hard to reconcile Gingrich with principled conservative beliefs.
Gingrichs recent incendiary attacks on Republican rivals have likely harmed his partys chances. Last year, he blasted Paul Ryan for right-wing social engineering and more recently ridiculed Romney over profitable business practices. The incessant debates have devolved into what Pat Buchanan coined a circular firing squad. The liberal media eagerly reloads their arsenals.

To find out, I had to waste my time a Forbes.
What’s your point? Sniff.
If you are looking for a transcendent leader and you're a Republican, you are in the wrong party.
That kind of reasoning gave us Obama too. “Ohhhhh....he inspires me!” Does Newt give you a tingle up your leg too?
Imagine that, Wall Street’s magazine backs Wall Street’s candidates (both Romney & 0bama) and trashes the guy who will turn the bailout spigot off. At least you can’t say that Forbes doesn’t look out for their own best interests.
NOT, of course, to be confused with Barack Obama's "overarching" concern, or Mitt Romney's "overarching" concern or Nancy Pelousy's "overarching" concern, or Hairy Reed's "overarching" concern, or Barney Frank's . . . . . .
You get the point.
Holding our noses seems to be the primary conservative theme of this election cycle.
Newt has the best economic plan. Best legislative plan. If you don’t see that, I can’t help you.
He has plans. Always has. They change constantly...and to some pretty bad ones. If you can’t see the ticking bomb he is, I can’t help you.
