This is a story about a young and impressionable female intern in the White House -- a virgin, with girlish dreams about princes and presidents. Young girls are trained to marry the wealthiest or most powerful man on the block. When the prince comes calling, few young girls can resist this opportunity.
However, they are not the ones who are abusing power and betraying both youth and a wife. That would be the prince or president himself.
And no, I am not talking about Monica Lewinsky in the Clinton White House.
I am talking, sadly, about the recent revelations by a former intern, Mimi Alford, in the Kennedy White House. Alford is no Marilyn Monroe, who was reputedly the mistress of both John F. and Robert F. Kennedy. Nor, is she Judith Exner, who was reputedly the "Mata Hari" connection between President Kennedy and Sam Giancana, a Mafia operative. These were adult women who chose to use their sexuality to further their careers.

So was Jackie. She sold herself to the highest bidder after JFK died.
This story is a smoke screen for the revelation from Jackie that she suspected that LBJ was in on the hit.
Not many knew before the election but it wasn’t long after that word and rumors started to spread. There was at least one comedic LP making fun of the president, his girlfriends etc. I also read an article about his wartime tryst with a Scandinavian spy. I was aware of all of this as a teenager living in South Dakota so I know a lot of others knew about it as well. Many just refused to believe any of it and some still won’t.
The young Alford did say a powerful and handsome man was paying attention to her, had picked her-- was exciting and she fell into love.
Thousand other stories out there.
“Young girls are trained to marry the wealthiest...”
I agree with you BR. I don’t know anyone who “trains” their daughter to go after someone based on wealth or power. The article makes it sound that what they did was standard procedure and it’s not. Young girls who go after married men had a different name in my household when I was growing up (to be fair, so did the married men who cheated).
I believe Jackie needed to get her kids away from the Kennedy clan at
any cost!!!! Jackie felt she did the right thing for her kids, Jackie was well
aware of what the Kennedy’s were.
No doubt the most important shot of many lifetimes.
Examples:
Would we have gone to the moon, otherwise?
Would we have expanded Vietnam to rediculous proportions?
Would we have the "Great Society".
The only difference with Obama is that he likes the guys.
I’m not sure this story couldn’t be about any male person in politics these day.......
LOL - yep, I knew - but I remember too well the many who thought that the Kennedy's were 'devout Catholics that would never do anything wrong.'
Maybe it was 'willful ignorance' - because they all wanted to do what the Kennedy's got away with, and they admired them for doing so.
Which young girls? Not my mother, not me, not my daughters. In fact, I don't know any woman who has married anyone wealthy or powerful ... except my boss at church, who came from a wealthy family and married a Spanish surgeon from high society in 1960. But they lost everything when the Socialists took over Spain in the early '00s.
After his father shorted the market into a the Great Depression to make himself a billionaire, this is small potatoes.
Pray for America
No, what I think is that you are paranoid.
Stephen King's latest book 11/22/63 is excellent. What if you could change the past-change history.
As I understand it, Jackie had a ‘reputation’ at GWU before she ever met JFK.
I’m not sure Joseph P. Kennedy was ever a billionaire. There weren’t many back then.
