5-DAY PREDICTIONS FOR NAVID NAVID (Gospel), was designed to collect data on weather conditions and monitor for natural disasters. The satellite weighs about 110 pounds (50 kilograms) and will orbit Earth at an altitude of up to 234 miles (375 kilometers), circling the planet 15 times a day. Navid, produced at an Iranian engineering university, is the third small satellite that Iran launched over the past years and is expected to remain in orbit for about two months. The two earlier satellites — Omid, launched in 2009, and Rasad, sent into orbit in June 2011 — lasted three weeks and 82 days, respectively. The satellite has advanced control technology, a higher-resolution camera and photocells to generate power

If they can do this, they can deliver an EMP...maybe.

only if they used a couple of Russian Made “suitcase nukes” in the payload, the payload space is too small to use anything else at the moment, but consider it only took a few years for us to go from explorer 1 satelite to somethign that could deliver a heavy bulky nuke into orbit. A lot of the R&D has already been done for the Iranains for the right price.

I have no idea what size of bomb is needed for an EMP, but you are correct. If they can do this, they might be able to deliver an EMP.

That is the message they sent with the launch, Barry is ignoring it....

This is exactly WHY the space race was such a big deal in the 1960’s.

Geez, you know if we got EMP-zapped, we’d need a LOT of gummint, and probably martial law and have to suspend elections and all, too...

They just did 110 pounds and the other launches were about the same, BUT, this rocket had 20% more lift which would translate into a heck of a lot more than a 110 pound war head. The US has produced many 200 pound nukes, so has Russia, so Iran would have to import to get the lower weight. But then again, they wouldn’t lie about the weight would they so we did not get concerned. Arabs lie? Never!

Dr. Graham of the EMP Commission 2008 report to Congress estimates that a nuke 250 miles high over Chicago would take out the entire US elect. grid and that within a year 80% of the US population would be dead. This was a report to Congress and Congress has done nothing.

Say, how high was that Iranian satellite again????? 250 miles?????? What a coincidence!!!!!!!

Where’s an F-15C with an ASAT missile when you need one.

I remember the leftist bedwetters going “ballistic” over Ronald Reagan's “Strategic Defense Initiative” (SDI) in the 80’s.

They called it ‘star wars’.....screamed and cried that it would use the best and the brightest minds in science on military pursuits instead of more important science like GLOBULL WARMING. LMAO.

Reagan was right and now we are 20 years behind where we would have been if we pursued SDI in earnest.

From my link above, the navy is working on the FEL.

“A free-electron laser, which doesn't use a gain medium and is therefore more versatile — it was tested in February consuming a blistering 500 kilovolts of energy, producing a supercharged electron beam that can burn through 20 feet of steel per second

I'm sure we have much more powerful land based lasers capable of popping that muzzie satellite like a zit.

Do you have any idea of its brightness? Given its small size, it’s probably not visible to the naked eye - but I’ll look tonight because it is passing directly in front of Pleiades.

SDI as envisioned wouldn’t have had a prayer of working. The entire US government budget spent on SDI for a 100 years would not have created a system that could have stopped even a major portion of a full Soviet ICBM attack.

Dr. Graham of the EMP Commission 2008 report to Congress estimates that a nuke 250 miles high over Chicago would take out the entire US elect.

IIRC, the size of the nuke from the report was in the megaton range. Iran hasn't yet shown the capability for even a kiloton range weapon and a 'suit case' nuke is even smaller scale.

An excellent novel based on an EMP attack over America. Foreword is by Newt Gingrich.

The entire US government budget spent on the Manhattan Project for 100 years would not have created a single atomic bomb, if they had started in 1844.

They started in 1939 though, and by then a few things had changed.

Not to nitpick but volts are not a unit of measurement for energy. There’s probably 500 kilovolts on every wire leaving any power plant. 500 kilowatts might be another story. I’ll link to your article.

Here is a question for everyone. What percentage of the US population knows that Iran has launched a satellite that overflys over the USA? 5%?

Thats about the population of active participants on this website alone...No one cares anymore...When the Sovs shot off Sputnik, everyone in the US about had a collective coniption fit...

If they’ve (Iran) done three, they can do more...What is to stop them??? I mean its all in the interests of equality...They need to feel better about being able to launch satellites for peaceful purposes...

When the internet doesn’t work, lights don’t come on, TV don’t work, etc etc etc...

What are you prepared to do about it??? Remember no phones, no lights, no motorcars, not a single luxury...
