Wis. board posts Kleefisch recall petitions online (WI)
Wisconsin State Journal ^ | 2-6-12

The state board overseeing elections in Wisconsin has now posted online the petitions seeking the recall of Lt. Gov. Rebecca Kleefisch.

That follows the Government Accountability Board's decision this week to post online the petitions seeking the recall of Republican Gov. Scott Walker.

Board staff scanned 140,123 petition pages for Kleefisch's recall. The pages were given to the lieutenant governor's representative Friday and posted on the board's website.

The board says it has not yet estimated the number of signatures on the petitions.

The board says the petitions are being released under Wisconsin's open records law, as well as a recent U.S. Supreme Court decision involving the release of referendum petitions in Washington state.

While voting is private, the board says signing a recall petition is public.

While is mentions 140,000 pages scanned, I should point out that if the Kleefisch petitions follow the pattern of the others, most/many of those pages will be incomplete. IOW there will not be 10 signatures per page.

I went through some of the Walker petitions, and two signatures per page were quite common.

A lot of “petitioner signed” entries, too.

Average is around 4 signatures per page. I counted 1037 signatures on 262 pages of petitions.

I am thankful you continue to keep up updated on the recall nightmare. I have enrolled in the the verify the vote and the funniest fake name I came across was Getta Reddy -
oh how clever, NOT!

And yes, pages with 2 signatures is quite common, it’s pathetic really.

Indeed. Well over half of the petitions I typed in to TrueTheVote had only five entries available, not ten.
