LAS VEGAS Sheldon Adelson, the billionaire casino executive keeping Newt Gingrichs presidential hopes alive, has relayed assurances to Mitt Romney that he will provide even more generous support to his candidacy if he becomes the Republican nominee, several associates said in interviews here. The signals from Mr. Adelson, whose politics are shaped in large part by his support for Israel, reflect what the associates said was his deep investment in defeating President Obama and his willingness to play a more prominent role in the Republican Party and conservative causes.
The assurances have been conveyed in response to a highly delicate campaign by Mr. Romney and his top Jewish financial supporters to dissuade Mr. Adelson from adding to the $10 million that he and his wife have given to a pro-Gingrich super PAC, Winning Our Future, that has been tearing into Mr. Romney through television advertising.

Trump: real estate mogul and founder of an Atlantic City casino company says the United States should legalize Internet gambling. The company that bears his name, Trump Entertainment Resorts, is moving forward with plans to establish an online betting venture as soon as it's legal. The company says it wants to get in on the ground floor of the Internet gambling business, and is close to selecting a joint venture partner to run an online gambling operation.
BUT what do both Adelson and Trump have in common? They both want to insure the defeat of Obama.
Adelson was among conservative political financiers last weekend for the twice-yearly gathering of the billionaire industrialists Charles and David Koch near Palm Springs, Calif, where the Kochs and their like-minded colleagues discussed their efforts to ensure Mr. Obamas defeat.
Obama, DNC was said to have amassed $1B in their war chest, but last report they claimed just $240 million.
Harry Reid has been pushing for online gambling, which is why Adelson gave a lot to Sharron Angle in 2010.
Well.
The headline here is that the NY Times thinks Massachusetts is a “battleground” state. Can we say “out-of-touch?”
Thanks fight_truth_decay.
When a billionaire id umping piles of his own money into a political campaign it is a bad sign. Whether Adelson, the Koch Bros, or Soros, the end result is that they want something. And that something is not just a candidate’s defeat or another’s triumph. They want something for themselves.
Sheldon Adelson is a great American patriot.
Very wierd. Romney is sure covering all his bases (not by being a good candidate, but by being duplicitous and vicious).
Having help from the Koch brothers would be good. I don't know what their religious background is, but they support a lot of good projects sponsored by churches, and accordingly are hated by the Dems.
The LDS is also huge in casinos (though they don't gamble).
The missing piece of the puzzle is "where does the LDS stand on Israel?" I am guessing that Adelson knows quite well.
Koch brothers are behind Romney.
There is always a Plan B, but why even leak a Plan B?
What are their beefs with Newt?
So, another leak by un-named sources undermining Newt’s chances. Romney plays as dirty as a Democrat.
Adelson and the Koch Brothers (not of the same religion btw...) are patriots while George Soros is a nut who, by his own admission, wants to play Messiah.
I don't think so...they were Tea Party supporters and Herman Cain's benefactors...and Herman and the Tea Party are aligned behind Newt.
Do you have a source for your info?
So. Romney buys off Newt backer. Free elections are bought now, and only manipulated for our viewing pleasure, to appear as if the people really had a fair shot.
Newt can’t lift a finger against a globally proportioned ambush like this.
They are? Where does that info come from?
The Dems try to go after the Koch Brothers about the pipeline but they are not involved with it. I have been watching some comments on Fox News.
I have a feeling the Koch Brothers and Adelson will be getting pressure from the dark side to jump ship.
