Campaign finance documents show that Massachusetts Republican Sen. Scott Brown's re-election campaign has paid his daughter Ayla Brown $9,500 for performing at three campaign events. The three paid events, listed as payments to Ambient Entertainment LLC, go back to December 2010 and include a pair of Christmas parties. Ayla Brown is a former "American Idol" contestant whose band has performed at several events with her father, going back to his first 2010 U.S. Senate campaign to replace the late Sen. Ted Kennedy.

Scott Brown is scummy, so I oppose him on general principle... but... what the heck??
Randy, I think Scott was still in the Mass Legislature then and ran for the US Senate after she had been voted off American Idol
I love her singing and while Scott has ticked me off at times he has raised two fine daughters.
Sure. Even if a candidate loses their kids can get 6 figure salaries paid by campaign contributors and walk away from the loss with a smile. I can see why people would have no problem with that, especially since it's so pervasive you don't even care any more.
We here in the NE are screwed. We must decide between a traitor or an outright enemy.
I choose the outright enemy.
She’s got Roseanne Barr beat all to heck.
Corruption.. a family tradition for some from way back when snake oil salesmen discovered the keys to the US Treasury.
“While frankly I would have thought shed have been glad to donate her performance to her dads road show”
Campaign finance laws require that she be paid fair value for any services that exceed $2400.
For example, U2 can not perform for free at an 100 dollar per person Elizabeth Warren fundraiser. It is called “a contribution in kind”.
A car dealer can not give Scott Brown a truck to campaign from either. Any value over 2500 must be paid for.
OK, maybe it would look ethically better for him to have contracted with a stranger. But the same dough would have been paid out from the same donors for the same work (this is no slouch singer) at the end of the day. This is a flea bite issue.
We need a phrase similar to “Damning with faint praise” but opposite meaning. When an obvious slime attempt is so inconsequential that you are left wondering, “Is that all the dirt they have on this guy? He must be pretty clean.” the attempt at sliming is a FAIL.
Indeed, I saw someone else comment that afterward. If she’d been just a gifted amateur I guess it might still pass muster for her to donate it. But she is a literal pro, makes money off the notes coming from her mouth. So I agree, she wouldn’t be able to get away with that.
praising with faint damnation???
Hopefully she knows the words to hit the road because Daddy Scott. Is going down the RINO ship (he owes me a $50 refund)
Not a big fan of the liberal Scott Brown, but I don’t see a problem with this as long as she was paid the going rate.
“I choose the outright enemy.”
I understand where you are coming from........but.......
I lived 46 out of my then 49 years under Teddy Kennedy and prefer a moderate like Brown over Warren who is to the left of Kennedy.
Aren’t you a bit Rip Van Winkly here? George W. Bush hasn’t been president for three years. What’s he supposed to do with illegal immigration now?
Just be careful, because this enemy has tentacles that go deep.
No news here, she can sing and she gets paid?????
If I am meant to meet my Father and His Son before I think I should, so be it.
This world is going to crap....we all see the handwriting on the wall.
I do pray to survive it though. But my life is in His hands. Whatever shall be shall be.
“Arent you a bit Rip Van Winkly here? George W. Bush hasnt been president for three years. Whats he supposed to do with illegal immigration now?”
Huh?
if she is a professional and sings without a fee that is a campiagn contribution. Can’t even let a campiagn use your car, a chair or a table without charinga fee.
So he is stealing TEA Party donated to him because he knows he will not get our support again, so he is draining the pool.
