Jewish leaders are criticizing a ceremony that involved a controversial megachurch leader being wrapped in a religious scroll and exalted as a "king" to the applause of his parishioners.
The video from a service last Sunday at New Birth Missionary Baptist Church shows Rabbi Ralph Messer, a Messianic preacher, instructing two men to slowly wrap Bishop Eddie Long in a large scroll that's purported to be the Torah.
"It doesn't matter where you go, how you try to attack him. He's sealed," Messer proclaims, before the scroll is opened to reveal a teary-eyed Long. Moments later, Long was seated in a plush chair, covered in a prayer shawl while holding the sacred scroll and lifted by four men.

The "rabbi" isn't a Rabbi, likely a SBC minister, anyone who wants to claim these clowns must admit their contempt for Judaism.
Modern Messianic Judaism - just another series of man-made invented sects. They’ll get a lot stranger over the next few years.
No, I don’t believe that he is a “Rabbi” as I understand the term, a holy man of the Jewish faith.

Well Eddie Long sure seems to be on track to come back to the “Mother Church” seeing as how he’s been accused of molesting young men.
He’ll fit right in.
Plenty of Protestant ministers have molested chidlren. And he looks like he is embracing Judiazing and not orthodox Christianity. He’s all yours. Enjoy.
I am Bible-believing Christian and am fairly familiar with Messianic Judaism. They also call themselved fulfilled Jews. They believe that Christ is the Messiah prophesied in the Old Testament and they honor and study the Old Testament scripture, and Jewish tradition, recognizing in them the foreshadowing of Jesus as Messiah.
For instance, an understanding of the Jewish Passover enriches understanding of Christ as the Lamb of God. The other feasts of Israel also have New Testament application.
In many ways they understand more about NT scriptures than a typical Western Christian does, because of their understanding of the time before Jesus was born.
What he did is wildly inappropriate and offensive and has nothing to do with Messianic Christianity. See my other post.
I understand. I have more than a passing familiarity with Messianic Judaism. And it is still a series of sects.
All Christians should be offended! Good grief! Will there be no end to blasphemy by so-called “men of God”?
The term “Baptist” was assigned by the Roman Catholic Church early on to apply to those who believe an individual must make a decision for Christ and then be baptized. Hence an infant could not be baptized into the church, since they had not made a conscious decision to trust Christ as their savior. The Protestant churches did not include those who are called Baptist, since Baptist in no way have wanted to reform the Roman Catholic Church, or in any way be part of it.
Amen. I am a Christian and I am offended by such mocking of the sacred.
For someone supposedly rooted in Judaism he has little regard for the 1st Psalm.
A sect of two sorts; Jewish and (barely recognizably) Christian.
If that is a Torah, he had better hope he doesn’t run into me on a public street. Douchebag.
I don’t think there’s much real Judaism or Christianity in this one:

Eddie Long is Not a King:
Isn’t this the guy who has been disgraced, accused of sex with young boys in his “ministry?”
What is wrong with these people???
