Weren't there some scandinavian 20mm shoulder fired rifles?

Thats right there were!! I think tho they were deployed w/ a ‘crew’ of 2 men. The things are heavy not to mention the ammo. Ive never fired on but did get to handle it. Was all boxed w/ its fitments and what not.

2400 grain bullet! That isn’t so much a rifle as it is field artillery.
To: JRandomFreeper
They were the Lahti made in Finland. Fired the 20mm round. They were originally designed as an anti tank rifle but did not meet expectations for obvious reasons.

I see little point to this. If someone’s going to build a .950 cal, why not go the extra distance and build a 1.000 cal.

It reminds me of a riverboat "punt gun" I saw in a local museum. I believe that had a 2" bore and was of course a muzzle loader. It was apparently used in commercial duck hunting at the end of the 19th century and could obliterate scores of ducks in a single shot.
I am not sure what purpose this .95 caliber rifle might be used other than for hunting unbelievers.

If it were me, I'd go 1.001 cal.

1,132 gr bullet. Getting hit with that would really put a damper on your day.

That's called stopping power. Kinda like throwing a steel mill at them at a couple thousand fps.

That would be one more, now wouldn’t it? The Spinal Tap approach to arms crafting.

That's only 4mm diff between 20mm and .950. So I'm thinking, based on how well the 20mm shoulder fired did, the 24.x mm would probably be just a little bit worse.

October Country made a 4 bore
A 4 bore is about a 1.00 caliber ....1400 grain ball...
but these are/were muzzle loaders and very costly...
Tropical hunting rifles...
Hughes...Robert, not Howard made a 4 bore as well with 1800 grain bullets
a 4 bore is a monster...dwarfs a 600 or 700 Nitro...I cannot imagine
and some of these are cartridge puppies
these guns typically cost as much as a fancy Clayton Double Wide and up....way way up...if it looks British or Austrian or German...fuggedaboutit
