One man is dead and another is wounded after the Mexican military allegedly shot them while they were fleeing into the United States.
It all happened just east of Sullivan City late Thursday afternoon.
Law enforcement officials told Action 4 News that the men are believed to have been involved in a gun battle south of the border in Diaz Ordaz, Tamaulipas.
Mexican military officials did not cross into the United States during the incident but opened fire on the two men as they fled across the Rio Grande River.
Law enforcement said a body was found on the American side of the border.
Paramedics rushed the wounded man to a local hopsital. His condition is not known at this time.
Three more suspects were reported to be in Border Patrol custody.
Action 4 News will provide more information as it becomes available.
I wonder if they are Americans....

Since the US won’t do it, maybe Mexico is getting serious about closing the border
Hopefully they weren’t our DEA agents.
Excellent. Would be great if Mexico made a regular practice of this along the entire border.
That is an interesting angle. Perhaps one day instead of endlessly fighting over “comprehensive” immigration reform versus securing the border immediately, we can just embarrass or otherwise convince the Mexicans to prevent their own people from swarming over the border.
Where is La Raza? Where is Amnensty International? Are going to see marches in the streets of Mexico? Condemnation from McCain and Bush?
If they are from Mexico or points south, this sounds like a good beginning...
Just shooting the people our people won’t shoot..............
If they were cartel people we should at least send a thank you card and some additional ammo.
Are they offering a bounty `Wanted: dead or alive?`
Just dewing the jobs Americans won’t de’ew.
The map doesn’t mean much and I don’t see which state’s border it covers! AZ, NM, TX??? Think I can rule out CA as nothing familiar on the map.
I think South Texas would be a clue.
“”I think South Texas would be a clue.””
That’s not even funny - HA. I tried NOT to send the post after I saw that at the very top of the map..and I thought I had succeeded!!!!
