I studied under a guy named Gary Kleck at Fsu. He’s a liberal as expected, but did some great studies.. gun rights protect citizens and deter crime.. a no brainer.
The inescapable fact is, when a criminal enters your home there are no cops there. If you are lucky enough to hear them entering and call the cops, there is a certain amount of time before the cops get to your house. In a gun control world the criminal is armed and in your house and you are not armed and are waiting for “help” to get to you. Chances are very good that by the time “help” arrives you are either dead, injured or raped and the criminal is on his way home...and the cops are left to fill out a report.
Currently here in Grant County New Mexico, an inmate with federal charges escaped the detention center yesterday. The individual (Scott Freeman) has told his ex-wife and her family that he desired to kill them all. In this community along the Gila River the HQ of both the State Police and the County Sheriff are over 30 miles away.
I am thankful that this community is armed. Escapee Scott Freeman would be a Meth’d up dip-s*it to come back here into this community.

It is important, however, for conscientious policymakers to consider not only the stated goals of gun control regulations, but the actual results that they produce.That, right there, is the problem. Leftists don't care if the legislation works. As long as they give the apperance of doing something and they're doing so with all the best intentions, results don't matter.
The overarching purpose of the second amendment is to allow the people to protect themselves against the very entity that wishes to disarm us - the government.

It's really hard to compile accurate statistics on defensive gun use, since many cases may not be reported. Some years ago, I had to draw on a druggie to convince him to get out of my car and leave me alone. I continued my drive, never reported it, and was more diligent thereafter about keeping my car doors locked when driving in the city.

It is amazing what absurd logic the left will use to force their insanity upon us. If a law forbidding gun ownership would stop people from shooting people it would be pointless and unnecessary for that very reason, anyone with the capability of adding two and two should be able to realize this.
