Obama: 'U.S. auto industry is back' By: Donovan Slack January 31, 2012 04:24 PM EST

President Barack Obama took a victory lap of sorts at the Washington Auto Show Tuesday, hitting what is sure to be a key issue in his reelection bid: the auto industry bailout.

The president viewed more than a dozen new electric and hybrid models from Ford, Dodge and General Motors, and even sat in the drivers seat of a few, checking out the interiors.

“When you look at all these cars, it is a testimony to the outstanding work that’s been done by workers, American workers, American designers,” he said. “The U.S. auto industry is back.”

The visit, which wasn’t included on his public schedule, could very easily have been a campaign stop. He took time during his remarks to note that “some folks” criticized the industry bailout that Obama approved — a not-so-veiled dig at his 2012 rivals.

“It’s good to remember the fact that there were some folks who were willing to let this industry die,” the president said. “Because of folks coming together, we are now back in a place where we can compete with any car company in the world. And these are not only selling here in the United States; they also serve as a platform for us to sell product all around the world.”

Really? What a maroon...

* GM's stock is in the toliet.
* We have no idea what the heck Fiat/Chrysler is worth, and their cars are getting better but really?
* GM is stuffing the pipe, as reported on "Zero Hedge"

Go over to the Detroit News.

Read the article on the outoging lady head of dealing with Fedzilla in regards to emissions and fuel economy @ Ford.

She sort of denotes all the things Obama wants and believes in are a big risk and they are putting a ton of money in it while consumers still want their big cars.

OK zero, how long can the auto industry be back, if you continue to thwart their supply of fuel?

Hmm?

Tell that to the car dealers. LOL!

And the unemployed Americans who aren't building those foreign built American cars such as the Chrysler 300, Dodge Challenger and Charger, and Chevy Camaro.

Easier to put the masses on trains and busses to retreats to be reeducated and/or liquidated with mass dejection and broken wills in place on a large scale.

Obama is a car guy—at least, I heard he’s a big fan of being entertained in the back of a limo...I guess Larry Sinclair could elaborate.

“GM is back on top as the world’s number one automaker. Chrysler has grown faster in the U.S. than any major car company. Ford is investing billions in U.S. plants and factories.

Some want to remind the A hole that Ford didn't feel like being run by the government.
