RUSH: St. Louis. This is Greg. Great to have you on the program, sir. Hello.

CALLER: Hey, Rush. God bless you, buddy. Been listening to you for a long time, and, like you, I'm an expert at what I do. I've got a painting company, funny story, I have the ability to listen to you at different job sites, particularly residential job sites, and it's a hoot when I'm at a liberal's house painting with Rush Limbaugh on. It drives 'em crazy.

RUSH: I can imagine that. I've heard such stories, guys on ladders with the radio on where the owner can't get to it. The wife, in particular, just goes batty.

CALLER: Yep.

RUSH: Husbands, too. They can't do anything about it other than fire the painter, which they don't want to do.

CALLER: Right. Yeah. It's hysterical. It's really amusing. It's funny. I can almost tell neighborhood by neighborhood, you know, what kind of clientele I have and whether or not I'm gonna drive 'em crazy.

RUSH: How can you do that? How can you tell by neighborhood what kind of clientele you're gonna have?

CALLER: Yeah, well...

RUSH: Okay, you don't want answer, I caught you. The host caught you. Yeah, yeah, yeah, expert painter knows when he's going to a liberal neighborhood or a conservative neighborhood.

CALLER: You can tell.

RUSH: You can tell. Yep. Whether you got a car on concrete blocks in the front yard or not, I know.

CALLER: Yeah, right, right, especially election time when all the signs get put in the front yard, it's even more of a hoot.

RUSH: Yep.

CALLER: But, hey, the reason why I'm calling, you know, you're the guy that I listen to the most, and you're the guy that I get all my information from. I get why you couldn't endorse someone, but, boy, it sure would be helpful for me and your listeners for you, at the end of the day, say, "Here's the guy," because you're the expert, man. You know who's full of it, and you know who's legitimate, and it would be awesome if you would just, you know, come out and say, this is --
RUSH: Ah, see, wait a minute. You say you understand why I don't endorse. In fact, you said you understand why I can't endorse. And then you very sneakily and slyly try get me to endorse. If I tell you who I'm voting for, that's an endorsement. You're trying to tell me I can do that without actually endorsing anybody. Snerdley, I'm gonna tell you something. 'Cause Snerdley's behind this, folks. If I don't shut this down every call is gonna be somebody demanding or trying to pressure me. Snerdley is sitting in there thinking that I can change the outcome of elections if I would just say so. He really believes that.

You and I both know that's absurd, but he believes it. I'm just telling you, you could give me two more hours of this, I'm not gonna tell you. It isn't going to happen, because when this is all over, I am not gonna be in a position where my credibility is such that I can't support whoever the nominee is. 'Cause I am not voting Obama. I'm not supporting Obama. So whoever wins this, I can't sit here and pigeonhole myself in such a way that I don't have credibility supporting whoever the eventual nominee is, because Obama is the end result. I'll tell you right now, I'm not voting Obama. I'm the expert. And that's really all you need to know.

You keep talking about the smoke that Rush puts out, and ignoring the meat, and the facts that he mixes into all that smoke.

Rush said what I told you he said, that was meant to be fact, Santorum voters, and Perry voters do not like Newt and will go to Romney.

You can’t pretend that that isn’t real, and not a clear cut (claimed) analysis, that he wanted the Santorum and Perry voters to hear as they went to the polls.

What I have learned when someone keeps at this denial as hard as you, is that you are indifferent (at best) to Romney defeating Newt in Florida.

Under the surface of this discussion, is the Romney versus Gingrich argument.

It wasn’t all that long ago around here when Rush went on and on supporting and spending so much time gushing over Sarah Palin.

People would post quotes and pictures of Rush and Sarah.
Why then Rush was the greatest thing since sliced bread.

If people would think clearly, Rush doesn’t pick a candidate in the primaries and he never has.

For good reason. No matter who he picks he is going to get all the others trashing him if he doesn’t pick their candidate. He can’t even not pick a candidate without being trashed. I think he has done a fairly even handed job. Especially in a race where there sure ain’t no saints.

It is unfair to expect Rush to pick a primary candidate.

In 2008 we were devoted to defeating Romney, (not Rush though).

We were? As you yourself posted earlier, Rush backed Romney, (he was the alternative to Mc Cain)

How is it then we had Mc Cain shoved down our throats?

Why do you listen to Rush if you don’t think that he has any effect on politics?

Ummmm, because I like to hear commentary from people with different perspective?

The difference is I listen, assess, then make up my mind. I don't depend on said opinions to make my decisions.

I like any thinking person will take what is said, evaluate then compare what my common sense tell me.

You seem to need others to tell you what to do, sorry, not me....I can seperate the two.

If you're referring to this part:

Yes, I did indeed miss that part...shame on me, my bad, my apologies.

Cain and Palin are clearly trying to stop Mitt in Florida.

In 2008 when Mitt was down, we all listened as Rush went after his challengers, and elevated Romney, even endorsing him according to many news sources who counted his strong pro-Romney statements as an open endorsement especially when contrasted with his nasty attacks on his GOP opponnents.

In 2012 with Mitt in a solid lead, your best defense to my observation is that he is not willing to take Mitt apart, no one is asking that, we are asking him to lean towards Newt, not destroy him to push Romney at us again.

Rush is clearing handling his show in a manner to hurt Newt, and to elevate and protect Romney.

Exactly, Rush was supporting Mitt Romney in 2008 also.

It sounds like you were as well.

That is the difference between us, I have never, nor ever will support Romney.

Rush tells us that for Santorum voters, Mitt Romney is their second favorite, that is an opinion of a Romney supporter, who knows, I’m coming around to agreeing with him about Santorum voters.

I listen to Andrew Wilkow on Satradio at the same time Rush is on. Enjoy him much much better. He is a far better speaker.

You seem pretty heavy on the personal attacks.

I interpreted your defense of Rush’s supporting the Bishop Mitt Romney in 2008 as you having also supported Romney over McCain or Huckabee, that doesn’t seem like a sinister mistaken impression, if I am mistaken.

Translation: El Rushbo is more than willing to carry Willard's spit bucket should he become the nominee.

He has no credibility with me if he is going to tell conservatives to vote for a man whose record is further to the left than Bill Clinton's was.

I'm beginning to think if Stalin were running as a Republican against Hitler who was running as a Democrat, Rush would be tell his audience to go with Stalin.

It's getting impossible to tell the conservatives from the liberals anymore. Beam up me up, Scottie!

It is not Rush's job to endorse anyone, it is his job to inform, to support the truth, and to endorse and promote conservatism.

Now, if he eventually supports Romney, how would he be doing that?

It's like being in the Twilight Zone when conservatives claim to advancing conservatism by rallying around a flaming liberal Republican.

I would imagine you are fairly insecure then and should probably go back and re read our conversation.

Good nite, FRiend, it's time for dinner and I wish you well.

So, you're going to fall in line behind Rush and vote for Romney and convince yourself that you're advancing conservatism? That's absurd.

You made a personal attack on me, but you didn’t clear up whether i was correct or not.

Did you support Romney during 2008, or 2007?

So, you have a problem with me suggesting conservatives should never, ever lower their standards to the point they support someone whose record is as far to the left as Obama’s? If so, you’re the one with the problem.

Personally think between Newt and Mitt; Rush's criticism has been pretty much - and unfortunately - an 'equal opportunity' effort.

Rush thinks that is 'good' - fair - but misses point that Newt needed/s more support; given he has far less per starting point. (Just as Rush offers; he IS the balance per Media). And so it is; the 'missing pieces' are on Newt's side.

Think Rush; has made a huge mistake in not taking more initiative; given that our country is hanging by a thread with oblivion threatening.

Desperate times, call for greater leadership. Rush has not gone there - at least - not 'far enough' per what we wanted to hear. Of course; he does read his tea leaves and so; can justify his positioning. And bottom line; it IS his show; his career; his judgment call.
