First, Kill All The Burmese Pythons
National Review Online - The Corner ^ | January 31, 2012 | Jonah Goldberg

Posted on 01/31/2012 7:11:37 AM PST by C19fan

As you may have heard, invasive Burmese pythons have nearly wiped out populations of white tail deer, raccoons and other mammals in the Florida everglades. Now I am not an absolutist when it comes invasive species. I like wild horses and tumbleweeds, for instance. But I am biased against giant frick’n snakes that can eat small children and large dogs illegally sneaking into our country. That’s just me. (Oh and my one word response to the objection that there are no reports of feral Burmese pythons eating children: “Yet.”).

I do not live in Florida so is there ANY discussion about putting a bounty on these pythons?

And eat Burmese Python burgers...........
The Rednecks will take care of the problem.....

"But I am biased against giant frick’n snakes that can eat small children and large dogs illegally sneaking into our country."

So now we have to worry about small children and large dogs illegally sneaking into our country?

I think the bounty idea is an excellent one. My only concern would be that people might start breeding them, only to kill them for the bounty. If they can find a way around that, put a price on their head and the pythons will be quickly eradicated.

Sounds like a great opportunity to start a new handbag and shoe line?

Or we could just transplant some Cajuns to the Everglades. Then the only issue is, "Are they edible?" and "fashionable" becomes irrelevant.

Exactly. And as an added bonus, we might even attract more redneck voters to move into Florida to counter the votes of the snowbirds from New England, New York and New Jersey.

If they actually killed the snakes the money for government funded studies would dry up.

So the answer is no - no bounty.

But there are already calls for more studies.

If the pythons developed a taste for tender, aged, blue-haired social security meat, the state would be solidly right wing.
