Friends and relatives said Susan Poff and Robert Kamin of Oakland were the perfect pair to adopt a foster child.
And why not? They were "passionate advocates for the poor," after all, even if they themselves couldn't afford a marriage license.
What could possibly go wrong?
Friends and relatives said Susan Poff and Robert Kamin of Oakland were the perfect pair to adopt a foster child.
They had dedicated their careers to helping others escape poverty, she as a physician assistant in a city-run clinic in the Tenderloin and he as a clinical psychologist for inmates in the San Francisco County Jail system.
But now, less than a decade after they adopted, their 15-year-old son stands accused of strangling both Poff, 50, and Kamin, 55, then hiding their bodies in the back of the familys PT Cruiser
Co-workers said Poff and Kamin were having some arguments with their son, some of it having to do with him spending too much time in the Occupy Oakland encampment, but nothing that sounded beyond the scope of typical teenage rebelliousness.

Well, they're not the perfectly ideal couple in the San Francisco Bay Area for foster parents or adoption.
That would be a homosexual couple meeting the following criteria: They must have been married by Gavin Newsome when it was illegal for a same sex couple to be wed in California. Both must be transgendered homosexuals who have completed the process as public employees and at public health care expense. Both must be cross dressing individuals from their elected sexual identity. Both must be public school graduates, have a valid monthly Muni bus pass and medical marijuana card. Neither may have ever possessed a hunting license from any state.
Very sad.
Very good take ... just needed to be written in past tense. ;-(
Yes, I am sure you have aptly described them.
Perhaps you can tutor the idiotic writer of the original piece. Apparently, the ability to construct coherent sentences is no longer a requirement for employment in journalism. Amazing.
Perhaps the son wasn't the only one involved....hmmmm.

They did provide good support and I'm sure lots of love. Among that support was a Charter school (usually much higher quality than standard public school), and near a decade of Karate training.
All tools CAN be misused by an individual.
This is the modern San Francisco Bay Area. The San Francisco Examiner, while doing well at clawing it's way back to relevancy has just been sold (again) and immediately dove back into the cesspool of far left wing lunacy that it had so recently emerged from.
PC has replaced the Who, What, When, Where, and How of proper news reporter journalism with tortured sentences contorted to avoid uncomfortable facts.
I remember when we had real journalists, and several great writers.
Plus, I have a terminal case of snark, and the beer doesn't help anymore.

:) Describes far too many of us these days, I fear. Parlous times....
Just my opinion, but the (Occupy kid?) is a little gratuitous.
Or maybe it’s not gratuitous. More will be revealed, I am certain. Just a tragic turn of events.
This fact was eventually sourced from more than two separate sources.
It was not a tragic turn of events, Occupy and their ilk is on a par with MS-13, the Black Panthers (new or old), al Queda or the Bolshevik Communists. Their policy is murder for the purpose of theft. The parents were just too leftist to admit it to themselves, and their kid was susceptible to the indoctrination because he had not been prepared by those same parents. This was entirely predictable.
I live 3 blocks from Ogawa Plaza in Oakland. I know what Occupy is all about. It is a war against capitalism, the free market and America in general.
I saw the marchers on Saturday. Looked like every other Occupy Oakland protest. I don't buy the argument that Occupy Oakland has been co-opted by radical elements. People who show up just to march and decide to leave before things turn violent are just as responsible, IMO.
I said it was not a tragic TURN of events.
It was a tragic event, just predictable, not an unexpected turn...

I agree, and that is one of the facts that I considered in deeming the actions of this boy predictable.
What are the odds that either of them would have showed up for work if they knew they were not going to get a government check every two weeks.
Everybody has a job. If somebody gets paid for doing a public service job, his actions are no more laudatory than the person who gets paid for digging a ditch. They are both in it for the money.
I wonder if he shot them or drugged them first.....or what.
I was musing about the odd scenario.

(Moses) Kamin ran away to protest with Occupy Oakland. Authorities also speculate he may have attempted to burglarize his own home and stolen a family car, reported the Oakland Tribune. It is not clear when he returned home, but last Wednesday he was suspended from school.
Then, around 6 p.m., police say, Kamin and his mother got into an argument about the suspension, and he strangled and killed her. He hid her body in a dark room and waited for his father to return home. He attacked him from behind, killing him.
