So, what is her plan? She’s a meticulous person, so if she won’t say “I endorse Newt Gingrich”, there’s a reason. This is the second time she has said that a specific state should vote for him, without saying anybody else should vote for him.

Is she thinking of a brokered convention? Does she believe Rick Santorum can come back, so she doesn’t want to tie herself to Gingrich yet? Or does she think she can have more impact by announcing state-by-state?

I really think Fox would cancel her contract if she explicitly endorsed Newt. They are no doubt pizzed off as all hell that she is already implicitly endorsing him, and using their airtime to do it!

Geaux Sarah!

“So, what is her plan?”

I would expect she does not want to offend any of the supporters of Santorum or even Dr Paul; as their support may be needed down the road. Also, it is possible that in a given state either Dr Paul or Santorum may be the best chance to beat Romney. If that happens, she wants to be able to get the other candidates supporters to shift to that candidate. By keeping everybody in the race now it gives her credibility and leverage to act as an impartial negotiator amongst all parties.

This is not just about Newt; it's about the survival of the Tea Party.

"if she won’t say “I endorse Newt Gingrich”, there’s a reason."

I think, and others have posted, that the reason is a prohibition in her Fox contract. Sounds right to me.

Maybe she wants to keep Newt on a short leash and maybe she wants to keep her options open.

Anyway, that's the reason why I endorse the way I do...for now.

Vote Newt in Florida.

She is a genius. Instead of endorsing Newt once...she gets to go state by state and say vote for Newt without ever giving a full endorsement.

If newt implodes she can then switch to santorum...this keeps her ok with the party as she isn’t out right defying them...so if it ends up being brokered she may very well be the one that can win it for us. And if it isn’t she is seen giving the nod to the winner as she leaves her full endorsement to the end.

If Palin is for Gingrich then why didn’t she come out when he first announced? Palin’s wet finger told her to support.

She loses her power if she gets behind Newt and he doesn’t win.

Is she thinking of a brokered convention?

Maybe

Does she believe Rick Santorum can come back, so she doesn’t want to tie herself to Gingrich yet?

Maybe she'd like to see the process of announcing a candidate before the other 45 states get to vote sidelined (I know I would). I think she may be trying to strip the media and the establishment GOP of some juice, here.

Or does she think she can have more impact by announcing state-by-state?

It's like she said, that she'd like to see the vetting process continue, and that only a few states have weighed in, so let the rest have their say, too.

I know I have always hated being 'told' by the GOP who our candidate was before I cast a ballot. If you think your vote might count, you will pay more attention.
