The moment that made Gingrich was when he got Tip O'Neill so all fire mad that Tip made statements in violation of House rules and had his words "taken down," a major parliamentary slap on the hindquarters. You can watch the C-SPAN video here:
Tip O'Neill's words taken down.
Now, this week we've heard the RINOs try to slam Gingrich's attitude to Reagan's foreign policy vis-a-vis the communists, trying to claim that when the liberals in the House were criticizing Reagan's policy and threatening to cut off funding for the Contras, Gingrich was right along them agreeing with it.
How stupid do they think we are? The moment that propelled Gingrich into conservative super-stardom was when he got Tip O'Neill's words taken down. The reason Tip got so pissed? Because Gingrich had pointed out that members of the Democratic caucus had nearly committed treason by sending a propaganda love letter to Daniel Ortega, the guy the Soviets were supporting and the contras were fighting!
Gingrich became a superstar by defending Reagan's policies vis-a-vis Nicaragua!
Tip O'Neill got angry because Gingrich got too close to the truth! That's why he slammed Gingrich, and that's why his words were taken down. That one of the biggest reasons why TODAY Newt is considered an arch-conservative. It was the day when Gingrich went from an obscure back-bencher to a leading conservative.
All these Romneybots trying to criticize Gingrich for not supporting Reagan's foreign policy are idiots. This was a major moment in the modern conservative movement, and it completely destroys the Romney supporters thesis that Gingrich was against Reagan's anti-communist policy. It also proves that, contrary to the Romney people's claims, Newt WAS on the forefront supporting Reagan's anti-Soviet policies in the House.
How stupid do they think we are, that we wouldn't remember this watershed moment?!WE WILL NOT LET THE ROMNIACS RE-WRITE CONSERVATIVE HISTORY!
I’ll admit this is obscure for those not in the know, but Gingrich was supporting Reagan anti-communist policy vis-a-vis Nicaragua when the controvery first started, and Tip O’Neill got so pissed at being exposed that he personally insulted Gingrich in violation of House rules. Contrary to the Romney slams, Gingrich became a star for defending Reagan’s foreign policy.
It’s a 6 hour video, is there a time to hone in on?
They sure hate a true Conservative don’t they?
we have moles all over in threads continuing the lies.
Lord hear our prayers.
Sorry, the fireworks start around the 35 minute mark.
Admin mod, would you mind putting down a note to look at the 35 minute mark of the C-SPAN video? That’s the point where Newt stuck it to Tip O’Neill.
Amen and amen!
The problem with this, which you can see by the paucity of replies, is that it is an obscure point that requires a bit of knowledge of the arcana of parliamentary procedure. Having your words taken down is a bit like having a reprimand put in your personnel folder. To my knowledge, it had never happened before in the history of the House that a sitting Speaker of the House had his words taken down.
The point is that Newt was able to give Tip O’Neill a major parliamentary smack down because Newt in the first place was standing with Reagan’s conservative anti-communist foreign policy.
That is true and that is why “moderate”, Go with the Democrats “piles” hate Newt Gingrich. He speaks the truth to them. He has been the light that shines on the darkness in our sick Government.
Thanks for this link. LOL at Charlie Rangel’s “crazy” hair around 20 minutes.

Obamacare is a fait accompli under romney.. and frankly this will mean revolt. The IRS as the compliance officers for our personal health-- not in our lifetimes. Open revolt-- for personal freedom such as it is. Give obama another term and we will have full employment for the returning military in the national gestapo-- he said it, he'll do it. Newt can dismantle this... with our diligent intelligent help and against all the media including faux news. As romney positions himself and his people (emphasis) to survive in a coming collapse partly of their making, what are we to do? Fight for truth, and hold everyone to it.
It’s get going good after minute marker 12: - then after the break - Newt was FEARLESS then - even against Tip who was not used to being bucked - Newt fear NO ONE, I love when he told Tip - YOU don’t’ have the right to yield! - right is right - he would annihilate obama
Amen. Forgive us our sins, Father, and, if it be your will, help us defeat your enemies and ours, who are tying to pervert our God fearing, freedom loving land into a hateful abode only Satan himself could possibly love. In His name, amen.
Thanks for posting the link. I vaguely remember this from the news back then. It shows that Newt has long been a fighter, taking on the most powerful Rats of the time.
He dominated his peers with sheer intellectual force.
DC Chapter ping.
Get your drinks and popcorn, set the video to the 11 minute 50 second mark, sit back and watch some awesome vintage CSPAN video from 1984.

Two thumbs up!
Used to be you’d get flamed on FR for talking about the Republocrat party and saying we had a single party system. Now it is so evidently clear that there is coordination going on inside the Ruling Class, even at the Presidential campaign level, that you can’t deny it. Romney and Obama are coordinating an MSM campaign because Romney wants the nomination and Obama is scared to death of debating Newt.
I still remember John McCain going into the debate and endorsing Obama for President—”you don’t have to be afraid of a Barack Obama Presidency”. That wasn’t a gaffe in McCain’s part. That was collusion.
It’s funny, no pathetic, how the Dems try to turn this into a debate over whether it was appropriate for Gingrich to send the Special Orders invitation via the House post office instead of messenger.
