The problem with this, which you can see by the paucity of replies, is that it is an obscure point that requires a bit of knowledge of the arcana of parliamentary procedure. Having your words taken down is a bit like having a reprimand put in your personnel folder. To my knowledge, it had never happened before in the history of the House that a sitting Speaker of the House had his words taken down.
The point is that Newt was able to give Tip O’Neill a major parliamentary smack down because Newt in the first place was standing with Reagan’s conservative anti-communist foreign policy.
That is true and that is why “moderate”, Go with the Democrats “piles” hate Newt Gingrich. He speaks the truth to them. He has been the light that shines on the darkness in our sick Government.
