Can you imagine only being able to fill up your vehicle when the government says that fuel is from an acceptable source?

Stop the tyranny!

Electrons from solar/wind generation are different from fossil/nuclear?

What a useless crock of democrat monkey $h!+; having to charge for 12 hours for two hours driving is not going to be offset by these dumb "green" ploys.

The Volt is as dumb as it's benefactor, obama...neither can be taught anything without sucking dry everything around them.

On Thursday, General Motors announced an alert system under development that would instruct the Chevy Volt to charge only when a relatively high percentage of renewable energy was available. Being plugged in at those times would further minimize the carbon footprint of the plug-in hybrid.

But there's no collusion between GM and the government.

Riiight!

Will the system also tell the car when to catch fire?

“to charge only when a relatively high percentage of renewable energy was available”

So when the wind doesn’t blow I have to stay home from work? Think that will go over well with the boss?

Solutions like this one will ultimately lead to increased renewable-energy generation

Solutions like this one will ultimately lead to the sheeple giving up trying to drive cars and herd onto buses like the enviro-left wants them to.

Reminds me of a diving trip to Belize in 1979. Stayed in spartan conditions on Ambergris Caye, electricity was available every other day, community bread was baked on Wednesday and Saturday. The 2 telephones on the island usually worked, unless it rained.

This is a snap shot of the third world conditions the control freaks want to impose on us. We have to ‘save the planet’ you know.

Marketing genius if you ask me.

GM knows who their market is.

Now instead of getting p!ssed at a longer charge time, the tree-hugger owner can kick back and relax while waiting for their vehicle to charge, knowing that they are indeed one with the cosmos, smug and content that they are maintaining the smallest carbon footprint possible...

Just slap a windmill and a solar panel in the trunk for emergency power sources,, that’s if you have room next to the spare batteries and fire extinguishers...
