No Murtha Ship!
Secretary of the Navy Ray Mabus plans to honor the late Congressman John Murtha by giving his name to the Navy's new LPD (Transport Dock Ship), to be launched in 2013.
In doing so, Sec. Mabus is breaking the Navy's tradition of naming its San Antonio-class amphibious transports after American cities. He is also honoring a man who:
We believe that such a man does not deserve to be honored by the U.S. Navy. If you agree, please help us petition Secretary Mabus to reconsider this outrageous decision....
Well, they have earned a place together, and I suspect Murtha is already there.
>> Oliver North & Haditha Marine ping, for a very good cause!
A good cause indeed!
Yes, you’re right and I thought of that after I had posted my comment. I should have said, nothing ‘honorary’!
If someone wants to bestow special recognition on the late Congress Critter, I’d be happy to participate in a convoy of tour buses to Johnstown, PA to pi$$ on his grave!

A very striking and capable class of ships. Looks good, distinctive profile, big. The commissioning ceremony and tour left an impression.

Now Mabus wants to name a ship after a corrupt Ex Marine who turned his back on his Brothers. John Murtha never understood the meaning of Semper Fi! He called our Haditha Marines “cold blooded killers” before an investigation was ever complete. The pain and suffering he caused these brave Marines and their families was devastating! John Murtha is dead and we are left with his traitorous name and his betrayal of his Brothers. His name belongs in the Hall of Traitors, not on a Navy ship carrying noble men!

I do not know if the United States Navy still has Garbage Scows If they do I think the name USS John Murtha Garbage Scow would be an acceptable honor for a man of his stature.
I beg to differ with your analysis good sir!! A latrine serves a useful purpose, that can not be said of John Murtha.
LOL

Couldn’t agree more!
Sending out a NJ Freeper ping for more help in spreading the word. We must stop the Murtha name being associated with our US military!
