The son of New York City's police commissioner, also a co-host of a popular New York City morning television show, has been accused of sexually assaulting a woman, a person familiar with the investigation said Thursday.
Greg Kelly, 43, was absent Thursday morning from his job as anchor of "Good Day New York" and through a lawyer denied the allegations.
The woman said she had drinks with him on Oct. 8, then went back to her office, where she was assaulted, the person familiar with the case told The Associated Press.
She went to police Tuesday, according to the person, who was not authorized to speak publicly and did so on condition of anonymity. It's not clear why she went to police weeks later or how long they knew each other before the encounter, though she said they had met on the street at some point.
Police spoke to the woman but turned the case quickly over to the Manhattan district attorney's office because of the potential conflict of interest in investigating the son of Police Commissioner Raymond Kelly, the person said.
Kelly, a former Fox News correspondent, is cooperating with the investigation, his lawyer, Andrew Lankler, said in an emailed statement.
Greg Kelly "strenuously denies any wrongdoing of any kind," Lankler said. "We know that the district attorney's investigation will prove Mr. Kelly's innocence." The lawyer didn't respond to questions about the focus of the investigation.
The commissioner was recently made aware of an accusation against his son by an unknown man believed to be the accuser's boyfriend. The man approached the elder Kelly at a public event, chief police spokesman Paul Browne said.
"He said, `Your son ruined my girlfriend's life,'" Browne said. "The commissioner said, `Well, what do you mean?' He said he didn't want to talk...

Rape is rape, but he-said, she-said after drinks together is tricky to prove. I hope there is enough evidence to ruin this guy’s life if they are going to go ahead with the case, and I hope they do have that evidence if he is guilty.
not such a “Good Day”. Even if not charged or convicted, this is often a career-ender for people in jobs like his.
Evidence? HA! Look up the case of Reese Hopkins.
I think sexual assault could be touching the clothing on her butt. An innocent man could easily be ruined even if he is never convicted of anything.
Did he reference her height?

Why Now?
Sounds like they had a quickie, the woman’s boyfriend found out, and she cried rape to cover her ass.
I worked in a police department in a small town in Texas. In one year we had 4 rape cases .. 3 were false charges. The fourth was filed by the police department not by an accuser and it was true. The perp was a lesbian who seduced a teenage girl. I have all the sympathy due a person actually raped but there are many a reason rape is lied about.
I feel a bit heartless but, absent some evidence, your summary rings pretty true. I have three daughters and I’m willing to believe but 3-1/2 months go by? I’m confused.
As I said, interesting timing, when taken in conjunction with the other two stories about the NYPD referenced in post #1.
“Nothing happened. There was absolutely no sexual or romantic activity between the two and all allegations are false. But if there was sexual activity, it was completely consensual”.
Add: She had a boyfriend; She went out for drinks (according to her the day she met him); She took him to her office at the law firm; She continued to call and text him after; She said her boyfriend picked her up from the office that night (no hospital, rape kit?); She stated her boyfriend ‘found out’ (not was told); Boyfriend confronts dad in public, then states he didn’t want to talk in public (huh?).
Discuss amongest yourselves..
Sounds like someone wanting to get at his old man.
Yep, and when exonerated (in a tiny one-liner in back of the paper), his job is still lost, you don’t know her identity or that of the boyfriend that confronted Kelly’s dad In public.
Because Muslims called for his dads head a few days ago re: showing The Third Jihad to the NYPD?
Greg Kelly is a good guy and a straight shooter. One of the few Iraq embeds that seemed like he was doing a great job.
I have a hard time believing this “rape” story.
From what they are saying today, she became pregnant but her boyfriend had a vasectomy, so he flipped out because obviously he knew he couldn’t be the father, and she went with this rape excuse to placate him. But you have to ask yourself: How crazy does this broad have to be to accuse the top cops son if it is all BS?
On the other hand your theory could be quite valid as well. The timing is very suspicious.
Plus it’s New York city, where unfortunately I live, where fake rape accusations pop up faster than another liberal demanding a tax increase. Probably the most well known is this one from last year......
The women here are just absolutely neurotic as all hell, seriously. I don’t know what it is, maybe because they’re mostly democrats, but I could sit here for hours stating all the examples. Even last month me and a buddy went out for drinks when I saw this girl smiling at him. So he went over to talk to her and right off the bat she screams “GET THE HELL AWAY FROM ME!” LOL! I kid you not! He didn’t do ANYTHING, anything to her. He didn’t touch her, he didn’t make any obscene gesture, he just went over and said hello and she flipped out. I saw the whole thing right in front of my face.
