Newt Gingrich better hope voters who lapped up his delicious hits on the elite media and liberals dont read the Drudge Report this morning. Or the National Review. Or the American Spectator. Or Ann Coulter. If they do, Gingrich comes off looking like a dangerous, anti-Reagan, Clintonian fraud. Its as if the conservative media over the past 24 hours decided Gingrich is for real, and they need to come clean about the man they really know before its too late. This is just a sampling of whats hitting Newt:

At least one of the dumps on Newt has been alleged to be out of context. Rush mentioned that but said he didn't have time to personally review the entire 1 1/2 hour CSPAN clip. I must soon hit the road so don't have time to review it fully either. I listened a little and the part immediately following the dumped clip does seem to support Newt and thus could provide counterpunching openings.
I'm taping tonight's debate and expect on my return to hear a number of rebuttals from Newt given what's appeared over the past day. I expect entertaining viewing on my return, but can't predict who will prevail. I also expect to read entertaining posts regarding the debate on FR when I return.
Not at all. Read Romney’s record as Governor of Mass. Statist from start to finish.
Then why doesn’t he post the articles that prove the attacks on Gingrich are false? “Newt was fined.” False. “Newt was lobbyist.” False. “Newt opposed Reagan.” False. Furthermore, why doesn’t Drudge have any pieces up questioning Romney’s ties to Freddie or Bain, or questioning Romney’s so called conservatism?
Thanks, I watched the interview - at least the parts where Newt speaks. While I can’t find the link on Drudge now to his original link to the NRO article, Newt’s explanation on the video linked here does present a different aspect (i.e., do the American people want more of the last 8 years, or growth into addressing problems (like drugs) that continually plague us).
I agree. His discussion here is not an accusation or indictment of Reagan or his policies. I would like to look link back to where NRO’s article takes its main points from, though, but don’t see it now.
Regardless, there is enough doubt here that Drudge should retract, or link to the full context. If he is not willing to present the whole story, once aware of it, then he is in the tank for someone (Romney) other than Newt.
