Near the end of his January 23rd radio program, Rush Limbaugh was asked by a caller what Rick Santorum could do to turn things in his favor. Limbaugh, granting that he likes Santorum, advised only that he should stop talking about himself, and start acting like a conservative. His point seemed to be that Santorum ought to spend less of his precious microphone time explaining himself and his record, and instead focus on articulating conservative ideas aimed at changing Americas direction. Though reasonable enough in itself, Limbaughs advice seems to overlook the special problem facing Santorums campaign, the problem which has created his feeling of needing to speak up on his own behalf: No one wants him around anymore.
As I have previously detailed the cynical use made of Santorum during the lead-up to Iowapropped up at the last minute as a temporary substitute for the falling Newt Gingrich, in order to squeeze out the serious constitutionalist campaign of Michele Bachmannwe need not go through all those ugly details again. We might, however, ask a few questions in the aftermath of that debacle:

The caller you’re talking about was today. And he was a Romneybot.
The article talks about Rush’s Jan 23rd show, not today’s.
El Rushbo clearly has a soft spot for Santorum, as does Mark Levin. I wonder what they would say if they saw the “50 Things You Don’t’ Know About Rick Santorum” brochure the Santorum campaign came up with in 2006 to appeal to Pennsylvania libs and moderates.
LOL
That caller today was a Romneybot, and a real dumb arse too. He totally missed the point of Newt’s exchange with Juan. TOTALLY MISSED IT.
I’m sure they know about it, but it really doesn’t matter what they say. They only get to vote when it’s their turn to vote.
That's how you tell who's conservative and who isn't.
You are right. I stand corrected it was today’s show I was talking about.
:-)
Ping!
It seems we live in a time where people are looking for extremes rather than what we want our sons to grow up to be. Just watch TV for 5 minutes. Don't get me wrong, i think Newt has changed, but confrontation is what many people think they must have to beat Obama. I just hope Newts tactic doesn't wear old. It's either Rick or Newt because I will not vote for a man who's religion slanders mine.
Nobody wants Mitt Romney as the ConservTive candidate because he isn’t
one. People don’t want Newt because of all of his baggage and they just
don’t like him. Why can’t anyone see that Rick Santorum is the perfect
candidate, a conservative with passion, willing to fight Obama and willing to make the necessary changes to
Get our house in order. He is intelligent and unlike most in Washington is willing
To stand by his very strong values and convictions.

The only candidate who can honestly say the era of Reagan is alive and well, gets my vote. Not Romney, not Newt, not Paul.
It only took 1 primary and 1 week to knock the air out of Mitt’s invincibility balloon. Rick has enough time to differentiate himself.
So does Glen Beck. He said Santorum was the only candidate a conservative could support.
Hoo boy.... You'd better be glad you posted that whining, juvenile, crying jag this late on a work night. Had you posted that just three hours earlier, you would have become instantly famous here.
I suggest lots of water and B complex for your hangover.
Brilliant article. Long, but worth the read.
Santorum deserves a long, deep look. I think he’s the best we’ve got, the most conservative positives and the least negatives / baggage.
Best line :
“What is needed now is character, of the sort that bespeaks consistency of principle in the face of fire or changing cultural tides, along with steadfastness in the face of audience disapprovalprecisely what one cannot expect from a man who desires to be feted as superior more than he desires actually to be right.”
