Madison - With a turbulent year behind him and the prospect of a historic recall election before him, Gov. Scott Walker is expected to highlight Wisconsin's economy in his second "state of the state" address Wednesday.
~snip~
In his first year, he balanced a $3 billion budget deficit with a focus on spending cuts rather than tax increases; presided over a modest increase of 13,500 private-sector jobs; and has seen unprecedented campaign fundraising and a new poll Wednesday putting him ahead of Democratic challengers.
But challenges abound: The state has lost jobs for six months straight while the nation has added them; a John Doe probe is investigating Walker's current and former aides; and other polling shows Walker is among the most polarizing governors in the nation.
Above all, Walker's legislation ending most union bargaining for public employees will likely lead to the third gubernatorial recall election in U.S. history later this year.
Excerpts of the speech released by Walker's office show the governor will attempt to focus on the bright spots in the economy, such as the fact that the unemployment rate has dipped almost half a percentage point to 7.1%.
"When I addressed you in this chamber last January, Wisconsin had suffered through three years of 150,000 of our fellow citizens losing their jobs. The unemployment rate was 7.5%," the excerpts read. "Now, our unemployment rate is down from a year ago. In fact, it's the lowest it's been since 2008. We are turning things around. We are heading in the right direction."

The state has created 13,500 in his first year according to the official figures that Walker said last year that he would use to measure his goal.

What a headline!!! LOL
I guess leading with lowest property tax hikes in decades and a balanced budget just didn’t appeal :)
The Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel: “Doing what we can to make Governor Walker look bad.”
Wisconsin State of the State Speech ping
If you want on, or off, this Wisconsin interest ping list, just FReep Mail me.
The speech is tonight at 7 PM.
I’m sure the Journal Sentinel’s headline about 0bama’s SOTU was “Obama to deliver annual address under cloud of dismal approval ratings, Gunwalker probe”. I’m sure it was.
I’m also sure that the pet unicorn I asked Santa for will be delivered tonight.
Good for Governor Walker!
We need a lot more people in office who take a principled stand for Conservatism and polarize the DemoRATS, union thugs, abortionists, sodomites and others who hate America. Governor Walker's pro-liberty actions are smoking out the evildoers.
Without Christians and conservatives in this nation it would already be Dante’s Inferno but on top of the terra firma instead. Leftists LIEberals yearn for their utopia then complain loudly when they achieve it and taste the rotten fruits thereof!
When his job is finished in Wi, we need him in Washington.
The speech will be carried live at http://walker.wi.gov/Home
Gee...no bias there! I really hate the Journal-Sentinel.
