STUDIO CITY (CBS) A SoCal woman says the energy efficient window installed in a neighbors condominium is melting the plastic components on cars parked in her carport.
Heather Patron of Studio City was dealing with a mystery regarding her Toyota Prius.
The side view mirrors were melting, says Patron. Anything that was plastic on the car was melting.
Toyota told Patron nothing was wrong with the car. After having the mirrors replaced, she noticed the mirrors on the car parked next to hers were also melting.

Thank you. I find those that are good at math very attractive. You really brought a smile to my face with your figuring.
Another added plus to the Prius, speaking as one who has had three of them, a 2001, 2004 and now 2010, is their entertainment factor. They are a very entertaining car. I know they’re not for everyone but I love my Prius!
I can be, but not with Priusites. The cars accelerate slowly, take corners at a crawl because of the skinny overinflated tires. The drivers generally drive slow too and leave way too much space in front because of poor braking from the skinny overinflated tires. That may be because they are usually texting, talking on the phone or sniffing their farts.
Read the reviews.
Not just the batteries but all the other various components not in non-hybrid car, such as the gas and electric engine, computer controls, etc. I highly doubt all those can go over 300K without major maintenance or replacement.
Green vs. green. This is so much fun. Well, not really, but I’m smiling anyway.
PING!
No, not fun at all. My second car is a used Prius and it is a great little car around the area.
I do get back in my big Caravan Xl and forget and “hit” the gas to start up...always surprised at the speed. SOOO...I guess the other one is a bit slow to “take off” from a light...I do enjoy looking at the gauges and see the 75 plus MPG chart when just “rolling” along.
Why do I have to be in a hurry? Nothing special to do. No place special to go in a hurry... LOL
Please think twice about your treatment of people driving a Prius.
Yes, some places allow the use of HOV routes. 35 minute shorter drive time, each way, makes buying them a cheap mental health treatment! LOL
Many of us are NRA, concealed carry, and you might be surprised sometime at the response you get !
Naturally any self respecting Prius driver would forgo a .45 in favor of the FN 5.7.
