| Gingrich Threatens to Skip Debates if Audiences Can’t Participate

Newt Gingrich insists his fans will not be silenced.
Mr. Gingrich, a former House speaker, on Tuesday morning threatened not participate in any future debates with audiences that have been instructed to be silent. That was the case on Monday, when Brian Williams of NBC News asked the audience of about 500 people who assembled for a debate in Tampa to hold their applause until the commercial breaks.
In an interview with the morning show Fox and Friends, Mr. Gingrich said NBCs rules amounted to stifling free speech. In what has become a standard line of attack for his anti-establishment campaign, Mr. Gingrich blamed the media for trying to silence a dissenting point of view.

It’s a good thing the MSM wasn’t around for the Lincoln-Douglas debates.

"Using populism against the media".
"Lovin it".
Me too.
Newt brings 50,000 rounds to a gun fight and will keep both the media and the commies back on their heels and looking stupid.

If it were Romney supporters who were showing this sort of “enthusiasm” at the debates, would you or would you not support a rule against audience participation?

Primary. If something should happen for whatever reason and Newt loses traction, will Romney become the nominee? Can a prior candidate who suspended jump back in? At what point does it become too late to field a replacement?

"Sorry I wasnt clearer. He was petulant saying he will skip debates if audiences cant participate, if that is what he truly said."
It is not what he truly said, watch the dang video.

Flint posted - “”I urge all here to watch the video.
The headline is not accurate at all. He did not say he wouldn’t participate. He did say that stifling the audience is not going to happen again.””
Can we please at least get the title amended to make clear that the title is MEDIA SPIN and is NOT what he said?!

Can’t now, I’m at work. Maybe some kind soul who doesn’t have to pretend he’s not goofing off can tell us what Newt really said that could possibly be construed as “skip debates”...or, I’ll try to remember to watch it later.

BTW, dont you find it rather crybaby-ish to complain about rules against audience participation?
Oh in Pyongyang, definitely so.
Had that participation been going against Gingrich, Id wager hed be all about the dignity of the occasion and how its not a sporting match.
You're the real expert on Newt I see. You got a degree in that my FRiend?
Threatening to pull out of the debates over this is way over the top.
It is becoming apparent that the NYT headline suggesting Newt would 'boycott' the debates based on the inability of the audiences to participate is (as are most NYT stories) a LIE.
Lets see if Newt will back up his mouth with action if the rules are not changed.
So just to get you on the record JAG, who are you supporting?

"If it were Romney supporters who were showing this sort of enthusiasm at the debates, would you or would you not support a rule against audience participation?"I wouldn't. But if we are going to stop audiance participation then stop the HOUSE ON BOTH SIDES from clapping, shouting, etc; especially since the media only show it when the Democrats are jumping up and down.

From a post I made on a similar thread
FR was a contitutional website. This is a
FREE SPEECH issue:
Is there anyone in FL who wants to file a lawsuit against NBC. Particularly since some were allowed to speak out repeatedly and not removed.
Yes, there must be order but as long as no one is yelling fire response must be allowed. No one has ever tried to shut down either the moderators or the candidates.
It’s simply an attempt by liberal media to control those with opposite points of view.
Legally NBC and all others who try the same are on thin ice. If you don’t complain now, when will you take a stand.
Good for Newt for standing up for Free Speech.
To: fightinJAG
Newt said nothing like what this blogger is reporting. Watch the video.
