Governor Jerry Brown signed the bill into law that bans 'unloaded handguns in public.' It went on the books on earlier this month. (January 1st.)
With the new law, California residents can no longer carry an unloaded handgun in public.
Now, Democratic Assemblyman Anthony Portantino wants to expand that ban to rifles.
Portantino says he wants another law because some California residents are now showing up in public with unloaded shotguns and rifles.

"Governor Jerry Brown signed the bill into law that bans 'unloaded handguns in public." Wouldn't affect me then. When I carry openly My gun is ALWAYS LOADED! An Unloaded gun is just a funny looking club.

The governor of California that called for, and enacted the ban on open-carrying of firearms was Ronald Reagan. It was in response to the Black Panthers walking in parades and sitting on the courthouse steps with their weapons on display.

Perhaps I'd feel different if I could visit somewhere in the country out there, but I don't know anyone outside the big cities. I think I'd have to make a trip to Yosemite or something. I might enjoy that.Well, come visit me sometime, I live way out in the country, near Yosemite as a matter of fact. You'd be hard pressed to tell the difference between the country folks in Texas and here except for the scenery.

It's been killing me that I feel barred from stepping foot in my own home state, without being able to keep from having my sanity and peace of mind assaulted.
Thank you!
