ANCHORAGE, Alaska An 85-year-old Alaska woman used a grain shovel to fend off an agitated moose that was stomping her husband.

A shovel and a sword are really not that different in practice (don’t tell the BATFE).
Heeeeeeeeere we go...
In theory they are are different; in practice not so much.
That is a moose for ya. They don’t run away. They would rather just stomp ya.
My wife, though, would be laughing so hard at my being stomped by a moose that she wouldn't even be able to fend the thing off with a SAW solidly mounted on something and with a fresh belt of ammo.
Whose sister is she?
Shovel ready job. What’s the pay?
Already posted but that article didn’t say she was 85!
Tough little old ladies they have up north.
LOL. Actually, in the picture, she's in the hospital bed and the hubby is in the recliner.
They live in AK and neither one of them had a gun and no gun in the Trk.
What id this world coming too.
Wow. That’s one tough grandma.
Reminds me of that Bible passage:
And he shall judge among the nations, and shall rebuke many people: and they shall beat their swords into plowshares, and their spears into pruninghooks: nation shall not lift up sword against nation, neither shall they learn war any more.
The moose was upset after being laid off: the Moose Training Program for mixing concrete and filling out complex insurance forms just ran out of money.
The fact that she made to 85 years old in Alaska means she is tough.
Behave now, this is series!
(I’m in shock that it took 7 comments before the sister thing came up.)
I've sat down on logs and talked to them 6 feet away in the middle of the woods
Have hand fed many local semi pet moose
Have waved & hollared off so many cows coming to get my dog team.
Have tripped over yearlings in the dark laying on my porch as I ran out the door on way to work at 5 am.
Never had to shoot any that were going to stomp me but have fired off 44 to scare them back in the woods when they came running down the trail at me.
Moose are quite special to me, I even cut browse for them come winter
If you stand there and gawk, they will run you over. If you hollar & wave your arms, 99 out of 100 times, they will run back to their calf and forget about you.
People around here don't worry about moose, they shoot every bear they see though.
I should have made clear she wouldn't want me stomped but just that she as kind of a weird sense of humor about animals related stuff. Chickens running around in the Mall for some reason, rabbits running down the RR track ahead of a train rather than hopping off the tracks, my Malamute tossing rabbits in the air several times then watching them run away, that sort of thing. She can just recall some of that stuff and start laughing about it when to me it was just odd, not really funny.
Regards
