A generally objective recitation of the original charges against Newt (little substance there, filed by angry Democrats in retaliation for Newt's ousting of Dem speaker Jim Wright), the findings of the ethics committee (caved in the name of bi-partisanship and to get the charges behind them), the $300,000 penalty [
The hefty sanction imposed on Gingrich was described as a "cost assessment" and not a fine, and designed to reimburse the committee for prolonging the investigation. Cole said the $300,000 figure was "the product of a sense of the seriousness of the violation . . . tempered by reality" and was "needed to send a message." Ethics Panel Supports Reprimand of Gingrich], the dropping of the final ethics charges, Newt paying off the penalty with his own money, and, finally, the IRS saying Newt didn't violate any IRS rules.

It’s the seriousness of the charges that matter.

Mark Levin addresses this about 15 mins into his radio show tonight. He said Chris Christie is bringing up leftist talking points and the ethics charges were bogus. Brought upon Gingrich by David Bonior (vicious leftist weasil from Michigan I remember well.) Mark said Gingrich left his position broke because of the money he had to reimbuse over what his lawyer signed off on in error and Gingrich signed off on it in error. Levin is asking Chris Christie to say which one of those ethics charges he stands behind. Mark Levin filed 4 complaints against David Bonior over these bogus charges in the 90’s and he said he remembers all of this very well.

One more reason that I find Romney (a solid democrat) more than likely behind this onslaught. I've also lost most if not all respect for Ann Coulter because of her supporting this pro-homosexual, pro-statist, pro-abortion, pro-taxing, pro-mandatory health care leftist liberal
I've kinda' wished Romnesty would leave us alone and go after Obambi in a dummycrat primary, since he is a dummycrat through and through. I know that Nobambi and the other lefties want to run against this empty suit (not quite as empty as the illegal alien's suit). And with Hitlery's 1000 stolen FBI files, I'm sure they'll have a whole bunch of trump cards to use against him after their temporary love affair with Romney.

Yes, I was listening while multi-tasking to put up this thread. Mark challenged Christie to an hour on his show to debate the veracity of the charges.

Newt received the same treatment as Sarah Palin but twelve years earlier.

Only if it is a Conservative Republican, everyone else gets a pass, a pat on the back for jobs well done in stripping the American people of the rights and their income.

The top article is what people need to read:
The Internal Revenue Service has cleared an organization of charges that it violated its tax-exempt status when it helped fund a college course taught by former House speaker Newt Gingrich (R-Ga.), the organization said yesterday.
The IRS, concluding a three-year investigation, ruled that the Progress and Freedom Foundation's donations to Gingrich were "consistent with its stated exempt purposes," and Gingrich's course and course book "were educational in content."
The foundation, which posted the IRS decision on its Web page, welcomed what it said was a "clean bill of health." An IRS spokesman said the agency is barred by law from commenting on rulings.
