In response to lobbying accusations from his opponents Newt Gingrich told me it would be "very helpful" if his former company, Center for Health Transformation, released the consulting contract he had with mortgage giant Freddie Mac before the Florida primary on January 31. "I think it would be very helpful and our attorneys are talking with the company. You know I left the company so, it's their decision and Nancy Desmond, the president of the company, has to make the decision. But I'd be very comfortable releasing them," he said.

Newt needs to push back even harder, and DEMAND Romney's tax returns by a day or two before the election.

If Romney comes up with somethign else he wants, Newt should ask for a full accounting of the oaths Romney and Reid have taken in the LDS cult temples.

To play devil’s advocate for just a sec, it is always possible that Newt would rather they not be released, but since he “knows” that the company will refuse to release them, he can say “I’d love to see them released.”

I read it as Mis-Fire, as in, yet another failure to connect.

Just picture Mittens trying to connect in the general election, as he tries to hand-wave away assertions that Romneycare was the prototype for Obamacare by maintaining that the individual mandate is OK at the state level but not at the federal. That would be the Mitt Fire that gives Obama another four years.
