Mitt Romney: Newt Gingrich is a ‘failed leader,’ ‘disgrace’

Mitt Romney landed here Sunday with a simple message: Newt Gingrich is a failure and a fraud. And a disgrace. And a hapless showman.

Standing under a brilliant orange Florida sunset, Romney delivered his longest sustained critique of the South Carolina primary winner to date – ticking through a list as if he were reading off Gingrich’s Wikipedia page, and undercutting each item as he got to it.

“Speaker Gingrich has also been a leader,” the former Massachusetts governor said. “He was a leader for four years as speaker of the House. And at the end of four years, it was proven that he was a failed leader and he had to resign in disgrace. I don’t know whether you knew that, he actually resigned after four years, in disgrace.

He was a leader for four years as speaker of the House. And at the end of four years, it was proven that he was a failed leader and he had to resign in disgrace.

At the end of four years as governor, Mitt chickened out and did not run for another term. He won his first term on a fluke when his opponent offered to show her tramp stamp in a debate to the moderator, Tim Russert. Mitt won by five points against a skank.

"The repressed feelings break into the open."

Exactly, 60 years of passive agressive personality will always explode if not altered.

Willard had an outlet at Bain. Now? The oultlet will be a personality explosion.

And anyone who votes for him is an idiot. I guess. Is Mitt taking talking points from the Obama camp?

Doesn’t Romney usually have his staff or a PAC make personal attacks rather than himself?

Understand something, folks...
The D.C. Republican establishment is going to go ALL OUT to destroy Gingrich this week, with the Obama supporting media gleefully playing along.

Newt got a LOT of things done as speaker, and most of it rubbed the Establishment the wrong way. It wasn’t the way “They do things”.

Remember how many Repubs played right along with the Democrat/media hatred of the Contract With America?? The government shutdown?

Remember how they cut the legs out from under the Clinton Impeachment?

The TWO DIFFERENT COUP ATTEMPTS within the Republican Party to drive hiom out by Dick Armey/Frist/Hastert/Paxon and Co.?

And the Bush’s REALLY hate him.

Yup. According to CNN exit polls from SC, Gingrich sweeps all demographics except for:

1) Those making ≥$200k (Romney +15%)
2) Moderates (Romney +5%)
3) Those opposed to the Tea Party (Romney +13%)
4) Non-evangelicals (Romney +5%)
5) Pro-choicers (Romney +5%)

Well I guess we have Obama’s ineptitude to thank for Cueball not being the Ragin Cajun. They’ll probably be good for the primaries anyway.

When get closer to the election, katy bar the door. I particulary like Ari.

It would be enticing to do that, but I think Newt is like being in the third quarter of the playoffs and you’re ahead 21 to 0. The other team is now desparate for a score, and their plays now are predictable.

Newt, please stay on message. Do not dip into negative territory. Forget the Bain and Tax REturn attacks. Just get on message.

If they ask you tonight about it, move on. Please move on.

-- I hope this backfires bigtime. --

It will, and there will be more than one casualty. Mitt is repeating the conventional (false) wisdom that began with half-truths from the media, followed by years of reinforcement, absence of correction, etc.
