In the most recent 2012FloridaPrimary.com poll, former Speaker of the House Newt Gingrich got the big bump he needed from his victory in South Carlina and moved from his 19% to first place with 29%. Former Massachusetts governor Mitt Romney picked up 2% of the undecided and came in second with 25%. Former Senator Rick Santorum ticked up a point finishing in third with 15%. Ron Paul, who intends to bypass the Florida Primary still polled at 7%.
With the Undecided still at 23%, the fact remains anyone can still win in the winner-take-all Florida Primary.

GO Newt!
How many people have early-voted? Anyone know?
If Newt wins Florida, Romney might as well forget it.
FReakin’ awesome!!!
My God I want Newt to win this!!!!
Go Newt!!!!
Early voting ought to favor Newt by a slight margin given his recent momentum.
Absentee voting, I don’t know. Different story there.
Wooo-hoooo, I pray this is a true indicator. Please let it be so. GO NEWT GO!
Go Newt! Bumpity Bump!!!
25% have already voted
if all of those were cast when Romney was ahead 40-25%
then Newt would need to win Florida by 3.75% on election day.
This poll shows him ahead by 4, so basically Newt is slightly ahead now.
Romney was +15 in a PPP poll a few days ago, so that’s a pretty big deal
One thing I’ve discovered is polls are usually fairly accurate.
We all like to critcize them and say they’re biased if we don’t like the results, but if you go and look, they’re rarely wrong.
Right now FL probably is very close. It could go either way. If Newt does as well at the 2 debates this week as he did last week he’ll win. Lots of other factors could come into play such as endorsements or attacks or what have you.
But Newt’s in great shape, especially if Santorum does the right thing and announces he’s focusing on CO and NV and skipping FL like Paul is.
If Newt’s neck and neck w/ Mitt in FL, and Newt’s basically done no overt campaigning there yet, then that’s a great sign IMO.
Anyone know what the grassroots tactical advantage for Newt in FL is looking like?
“Also a PPP poll coming out saying Newt and Mitt are tied.”
Well, the PPP poll did pretty well in South Carolina. I just pray that the PPP poll is true and that shows the momentum has swung over to Newt. He will only gain from here. GO NEWT GO!
IIRC, Florida is the first closed primary in this season, right?
This is most likely why Ron Paul is only polling 7%, and why he’s planning on bypassing this primary - since only registered Republicans get to vote, he has no base of support, and can’t artificially generate one by shipping in a bunch of Democrats and liberal/libertarian independents to vote for him.
