The controversial Westboro Baptist Church of Topeka, Kansas is at it again. Now, the church said it will picket the funeral of the legendary Joe Pa -- longtime Penn State football coach Joe Paterno who died on Sunday morning.

They should picket Sandusky and everyone who helped him hide his crimes by staying silent.
That part of PA clings to their guns and religion..
WBC is in for a rude awakening!
The WBC and the entire Phelps family are ne kulturniy, .
Pronounced: nyeh kool-toor-knee, accent on the toor.
Wait until these idiots meet 100,000 Penn State faithful.
State College, PA does not cling to guns & religion. Areas outside of that town do, for sure. But State College is a bastion of limp-wristed liberals.
Publicity Whore Baptist Church strikes again.
There was a soldier from my home town in northern Michigan who was killed in Afghanistan recently and Westoro posted on their website that they were going to protest the funeral. They never showed up.....
The cost of traveling across the country for all the funerals is astronomical so what Westboro does is post their protest plans on their site, which is picked up by the MSM, then let the MSM do what it does best, publicize their twisted message while the Westboro kooks sit home and get their free advertising........
Given the high profile image of Paterno, they may turn up but I doubt it.........
“I don’t think he & his family deserve this.”
True they don’t deserve a visit from WBC, but they don’t deserve all the praise & adoration either. This man was complicit in child rape. He should be shunned.
Absolutely disgusting.
Ha ha. You got that right. PSU students like to riot, even without a reason.
Oh, somebody’s gonna get hurt.
The Paterno family does not deserve this. Westboro Baptist Church has no shame. But if its protest here is greeted with more media outrage, or violence, or more people blocking them, than when Westboro Baptist Church protests the funerals of servicemen who died as heroes saving the lives of other men and women and armed combat . . . that will say something about everyone.
Good point.
This seems to be the first occasion, though, on which the Westburros are trying to do something even slightly helpful. You know these chickens never turn up at “gay pride” marches and the like, and only bug soldiers who by a vast majority abhorred homosexuality while they were alive. At least the Westburros are protesting this man who actually turned a blind eye to egregious homosexual sexual abuse, though his fate with God might be a question up in the air (if he got right with Christ, this highly damaging sin was not the unforgivable sin).
“They should picket Sandusky and everyone who helped him hide his crimes by staying silent.”
Joe Paterno fits in that category as he helped Sandusky hide his crimes and remained silent.
Yeah can’t wait
Pass the popcorn this going be good
Joe Paterno was fired from his job but it is not clearly known or yet to be proven in court exactly what he knew, when he knew it and what exactly he did or didnt do about it. So far we only have media reports, some of which I take with a grain of salt because I take nearly everything the MSM says now days.
Am I a Joe Pa fan or supporter? No. Not at all. But even if Paterno was complicit in a cover up, what good does having these freaks show up at his funeral going to do? Its not helpful by any stretch of the imagination. If anything it will garner more support for Paterno. And even if Paterno should have and could have done more, why does his family not deserve to bury their family member in peace and without the circus of the Westboro media whores.
These people (Westboro) are without conscience and nothing they do is for a good reason.
If they show up, they might get their arses kicked so bad they will not know whom to sue.
Too bad these idiots never learned the virtues of discretion and moderation. They might actually have something useful to say about Paterno, but no they will shove their feet five feet deep in it.
Their SCOTUS-affirmed First Amendment rights will some day meet a Second Amendment challenge.
Just sayin’.
