America hates Newt Gingrich
Wash Examiner ^ | 1-20-12 | Conn Carroll

Unlike Mitt Romney, who occasionally beats President Obama in general election poll match ups, Newt Gingrich trails far behind President Obama in every survey. But just how bad are Gingrich's unfavorable among the general public compared to Obama and Romney?

Not every poll releases their full results, so here are the most recent favorability results I could find for Obama, Romney, and Newt.

Fox News, 1/12-1/14: Obama, fav/unfav, 51%/46%, +5 Romney, fav/unfav, 45%/38%, +7 Gingrich, fav/unfav, 27%/56%, -29

CBS/NYT, 1/12-1/17: Obama, fav/unfav, 38%/45%, -7 Romney, fav/unfav, 21%/35%, -14 Gingrich, fav/unfav, 17%/49%, -32

PPP, 1/13-1/17: Obama, app/dis, 47%/50%, -3 Romney, fav/unfav, 35%/53%, -18 Gingrich, fav/unfav, 26%/60%, -34

America does not love Romney, but boy do they hate Newt.

A republican president doesn’t get to “ram through” amnesty in a republican legislative branch. Only democrats with both houses of congress govern like that.

But who scores lowest in the independents and moderates of this group - Gingrich.

And that is because the MSM has worked harder at destroying Gingrich than any other candidate (except Cain). Now, ask yourself, Why is that?

Romney is the one the media has left alone, and who the public doesn’t know, Gingrich has been exposed for 20 years, there is no well of new secrets for the media, it is all old hat.

The media will gut Mitt like a dead fish if the time comes.

Just so I’m clear, I would have prefer Santorum of who is left. I thought Bachman was a strong conservative, unafraid to speak her mind and as a women may have brought more independents to vote against Obambi. She did well in the debates, but not enough of a public profile, after some initial focus, the media shifted away from her. Perry, a good governor with a good conservative record, dethroned because he stumbled as a speaker. Santorum, a solid conservative but not a high profile, the guy at the end of every debate, still ignored by the media even after Iowa. Good sensible performances in the debates when asked a question, but hurt himself in the last debate listening to the political hacks advising him to attack Romney and Gingrich. He would have been much better served to stay on message- he didn’t want to get into attacking anyone but Obama, he has a solid conservative record, wants to do a few things differently than the others.

Of the conservatives left, he has the best public image and is articulate. All the media are dismissing him, helping the SC voters to forget him. He’s in real trouble now and may not have the money to continue.

So once again the media has left the GOP with two choices than are not the best - Romney, the media has painted as the rich guy who likes firing people, the non-conservative and Gingrich the most hated of the people that entered the race.

So as far as I can tell, unless Santorum can pull a miracle, Romney is now our best chance to beat Obambi.

Because with Newt, it takes very little effort. They haven't had to work hard at all. Newt has done their work for them.

I make a point to always pay very close attention when people share their opinions about politics.

In Gingrich's case, people see hypocrisy, which is very difficult to fight. Some college students we were talking to this afternoon (friends of my kids) knew that he had cheated on his wife while publicly using Clinton's cheating against him.

They said it was fair to ask him about cheating since Gingrich had made a public issue of Clinton's many affairs.

In the late 1990's, when the Clinton scandals came down the pike, these students were kids watching Sesame Street. And yet they know this about Gingrich, and are repulsed by it. It doesn't help that some of them are the product of broken homes. Never underestimate what divorce does to children.

Personally, I've committed myself to voting for anyone aside from Romney (or Obama, if that needs to be said) in November, regardless of how I feel or what I think at the time. It really is that important.

Yet, I'm only one person. I'm concerned what will happen when Gingrich has to face moderates and independents, if they find him someone that they cannot vote for.

This is for sure though: This needs to be the very last time Republicans ever, ever agree to primaries with such early deadlines. There is no reason, 10 months out, that a candidate shouldn't be able to enter the race and win, but that is currently impossible, given the way things are set up now.

Adhering to primary schedules which benefit Democrats and DNC Party fund raising is suicidal and must stop immediately.

It’s not fair, I hate the media with every single fiber of my being, I see them as the greatest threat to our freedom in the country today.

But the reality is that most people are manipulated by the media, they have no ability to make up their own minds. The image they have planted in the public’s mind about Gingrich is extremely negative, whether deserved or not. And if he runs they will do nothing to help him change people’s opinion of him.

The country is filled with ignorant people who vote and decide the future of the country. It usually doesn’t matter, but this time it’s different - four more years of this socialist hack and the America of our forefathers is finished.

The media will pop Romney like a pus filled boil, you will be stunned to find out the truth of the Bishop’s religion, it’s anti-Christianity, it’s racism, Romney’s family history, his true politics etc.

There is a reason they are saving Romney, they want him.

I have to agree that they want either Romney or Gingrich. Romney is the rich guy who likes to fire people, who doesn’t want to show us his taxes, is only going to look out for the rich people (by the way that is the democrat platform and why the Occupy Wall Street nonsense was started - all those rich people are hoarding their money and don’t want to pay anymore taxes, that’s what the republican wants to do)and then Gingrich the grumpy old man who has been around forever, a lobbyist buddy, Washington insider.

It would appear the GOP and the media has already put us in a very bad position - pushing the two most beatable republicans in the country into the last two positions.

I just believe Gingrich has more negatives than Romney.

Since Romney has devoted his life to anti-conservatism, and is the weaker candidate who can’t win elections, and is the easiest one for the media to deconstruct, you as a romneybot are clearly at the wrong web site.

Newt's the come-back Grandaddy. LOL. Rose from the ashes of the fire unleashed by Pelozi and moderate Republicans in the 90’s.

Survived near death from resignation of staff early on, to take the lead before Romney Super Pack Ads.

Super Pack Ads punched him into the ICU, and now he's back to being out in front again.

If this was a Dem you would be hearing about the COME BACK GRAND DAD 24/7. LOL.

“I would like to sick the junkyard dog Newt on O’s rear end.”

And frankly, that is EXACTLY what it is going to take, in a hostile media environment, in the age of Kardashian and American Idol.

AS much as I think Romney would be a good President, I fear he doesn’t have what it takes to FORCE the hostile media to cover his message, the way he wants it covered.

We have 47 MILLION Americans on food stamps, and an economy that 40 years of Democrat policies have ground to a halt. We are spending MORE than we take in now, and out debt is now OVER 100% of GDP.

There was a time for Churchill, and Teddy. Perhaps it is the time for Gingrich?

If Romney is the nominee and he chooses a RINO running mate, many Republicans will not vote for him.

I really think it’s Romney love.

What they do not seem to understand is that if you replace a liberal WITH a liberal you have won NOTHING!

I don’t hate him. I do think he’s not much for discipline and will possibly self-destruct in spectacular fashion. I only hope that if it’s going to happen that it does while he’s still just a candidate and not the nominee.

Reagan had low numbers at this point in 1980, too. The low numbers reflect what the MSM propagandizes and will rise once the conservative has a chance to get the conservative message out.

But, of course, you don’t give a rip as you support Romney and insisit Newt isn’t conservative.

I don’t hate Gingrich either. It seems if you don’t post a positive message about Gingrich, you hate him. I think he would be a good President and get the country back on course. He would also hopefully remain caustic and be a breath of fresh air with the media. I was so sick of the way Bush, on a tight leash from Rove, was careful with the press. They tore him a new one every chance they had, and he never fired back at them. I hope Gingrich continues doing what he did last night to that CNN turd John King.

My concern is that Gingrich has a very bad image with the independents and moderates who will decide this election like they have for the last 50 years. The media will do nothing to change that, only try and build on that negative perception.

One can only hope he gets enough exposure to win some people over. People want a tough speaking guy, who will stand up against the establishment, talk tough about the war against islamic terror, etc. He might be able to win enough of the independents over.

If tomorrow Gingrich ran against Obama he loses and Romney would win. That’s what he has to overcome and the media will do everything they can to make sure that doesn’t happen.

Totally wrong, the MSM WANTS America to hate Newt Gingrich so they can have a chum filled news season.

I can only imagine a day or a week that the MSM is completely shut down, I have no idea if it would only happen by the hand of God or not but sometime soon they will experience an event that will quite frankly for a better way to describe it, speechless.

I for one have freedom of choice to:

TURN

THEM

OFF
