Rick Santorum walked a fine line in his response to questions about Marianne Gingrichs accusations against her ex-husband and Santorums GOP rival, Newt.
Personal matters are personal matters, but they are matters that are particularly when you are in public life as he was at the time and the people involved were also in a sense in public life those issues are issues that people will look at, Santorum responded.
I believe in forgiveness, Im called to believe in forgiveness, he continued. I do believe having some accountability to a higher calling other than self is a very, very important aspect and perspective that is important for leaders.
To make the final comment, these are issues of character and these are issues that people will consider based upon the time, when, where, how all those thing will factor in and Ill let people make that decision, Im certainly not going to make it for them, he said to a crowd of about 150 people.
Before anyone endorses Santorum they should carefully review his voting record. It is not conservative. http://www.redstate.com/erick/2012/01/06/what-a-big-government-conservative-looks-like/
Santorum is done after last nite. It’s going to be Newt or Romney.
The Newt fidelity issues will matter. Thats what everyone was talking about today at work. Not the debates, or the issues.
It’s really too bad, as we need to focus all energy on Obama.
Sweet! the Santormoniousness never ends!
You mean Fred.
2008 SC:
McLame 33%
HUCK 30%
Fred 15% (Shoved Liberal McLame down our throats)
Those that got rid of him immediatly went to SPENDING like “conservative democrats” alias, “RINO” republicans.I think they just wanted him out of the way, he was crimping their style.
He had the arrogance to suggest he’s RWR. No sale.
Arrogant, argumentative teenager.
Release tax returns, Santorum...LOL.
BRAVO FRiend.
“Santorum would have been far wiser to simply not state anything verbally”
I agree. For Rick it is better to not say a thing. It is to easy to come off in a bad light. I think he too easily takes the bait as he did in the debate last night.
How about Santorum’s wife living with an abortionist 40 years her senior. I guess Rick forgave her.. Not a character issue?
It’s ok to support newt.
But santorum is still in the race, he’s a conservative, and some of us feel that Newt’s marital failings are symptomatic of what there is to fear about Newt. Character does matter. But if you support Newt, you have to play down character. Santy’s not perfect but he can comment on the character issue if he wishes. He’s got that bit over Gingrich so he might as well use it.
No, it is not. And I'm still pissed at Newt for that. But I know of no Newt supporters claiming he is flawless or pure. Not even Newt claims that.
My comment was directed at the "Santorum is the only pure conservative left" crowd. Scozzafava taints Newt; *but* Specter taints Santorum just as much. Medicare Part D taints Newt; *but* Santorum's support for it taints him just as much.
So, let's all just drop the whole who's "real" or "pure", and get on with who's electable.
Santorum needs to get out of the way just as his three fellow conservatives, Cain, Michele, and Perry did.
It’s time to CRUSH Willard the Lib in Florida one-on-one:
SC + FL = Newt’s OUR nom.
Santorum does NOT support SOPA.
Although we may disagree about candidates, it has never been this vicious with attacks.

Most are fired up as never before because this is the most important election in history. We MUST elect somebody who can take down the Marxist/Muslim.
‘Santorum made a big deal of his finishing ahead of Newt in NH (4th & 5th). I wonder if he knew that this had been reversed, I did.”
I did too and wondered about that. I guess he was counting on people not knowing.
I will not trust Newt ever, any more than I would 99% of the other politicians.
However, this is NOT the same as Clinton. Clinton, under legal investigation for a sexual harassment claim, lied under oath. His affairs were ongoing, uncounted, in the Oval Office, and gave a totally unqualified human access to the most sensitive data in our government so that he could get a blow job.
Newt has confessed his sins. He admits it was wrong. And most men who make a religious conversion late in life do so seriously.
However, I will never trust Newt...but I will vote for him, if he is still in when AZ votes. I’d have preferred Perry, but that option is gone. I dislike Santorum, find Mitt even less trustworthy, and Paul is a nut.
Besides, no one I would trust is running.
I think the level of defense of Gingrich is proportionate to the number of times a person has cheated on their spouse.
If nothing else, that makes Newt and his supporters more honest than supporters of Perry, Santorum, etc.
“Although we may disagree about candidates, it has never been this vicious with attacks.”
Every election cycle brings in the usual Paulistineans, and Daily Kos Trolls seeking to divide, and create discontent.
They usually screw up somewhere along the line, like the Daily Kos Klown last night, using the DK handle “NOOT, instead of “NEWT”
