Greg Hengler - "I wish Ann Curry had the same umpf, passion, and tenacity when interviewing liberals and Democrats. Geez."
Below is my dictation of the interview of Ann Curry questioning Newt Gingrich after reading the propaganda NYT editorial.
Curry - Are you intentionally playing the race card to win votes?
Gingrich - You know modern liberals are just, I think frankly, are totally off the deep end. I went to the Martin Luther King Jr. breakfast Monday morning with the Republican Congressman who is an African-American Tim Scott. We talked about the corridor of shame, which president Obama campaigned in South Carolina has done nothing for. I outlined a planned to build an I -73 corridor from a corridor of shame into a corridor of hope...
Curry interjects -- I'm asking you Newt Gingrich, I'm asking you Newt Gingrich the nature you are characterizing president Obama as a food stamp president?
Gingrich - I'm trying to make a point to you which is, when conservatives care about the poor, and conservatives offer ideas about to help the poor, and conservatives suggest that the poor would rather have a paycheck than a food stamp, the very liberals who have failed them at places, like places like the New York Times promptly scream racism because they have no defense for the failure of liberal institutions, which have trapped poor children in bad schools and have trapped them in bad neighborhoods. Liberal solutions have failed.
Curry - Alright lets move on. Back in 1995, your X-wife Marianne told Vanity Fair that she could derail your campaign with one TV interview. Tonight she is giving that interview.
Is there anything that she could say, Newt Gingrich, that could end your campaign?
Gingrich - I'm not going to say anything negative about Marianne. My two daughters Cathy and Jackie have sent a letter to the president of ABC News saying from a family perspective this thing is totally wrong...
-snip-
Curry - Is your X-wife someone that you think that people should see as credible on your character?
-end snip-

The daughters were making campaign appearances and writing editorials defending their Dad against media lies and distortions before this broke. Strangely, their efforts to correct the record never get reported on. I’m sure he didn’t “task” them with this. I’d do the same if a network tried to take my Dad down.
So...defending himself is “throwing tantrums”? Really? Take your own advise and be “careful”.
You know what, I spent the better part of a decade talking about the dalliances of Bill Clinton. Did I have private access to all those women? No. It was still clear to me that Clinton was unfit to be president, based on this alone.
I haven’t said that about Newt, but I do have grave concerns about his fitness to be president.
I’m not convinced by any stretch of the imagination that I want him representing me from the White House.
Are ABC and other networks above criticism for taking Newt to task on this? No. It still seems to me like the real criticism of the media should be why it didn’t cover Clinton and doesn’t cover Obama like this, rather than damning them for covering Newt like this.
Newt’s tactic of saying he’s not going to say critical things of his ex-wife, while sounding admirable, also presents a situation where he will never have to answer if he did this or not.
Should it matter? Should it have mattered when it was Bill
Clinton? Should it matter if Obama were guilty of certain things.
Folks, it seems to me that we are walking on very shakey ground if we try to dismiss all this on the grounds all people make mistakes, and it’s been over ten years.
Are we willing to excuse all things Clinton or Obama on those tenets? If so, that means we can’t even talk about Clinton and Carter’s presidency any longer.
(waving hand) Ooooh! Ooooh! I know!
Hey Newt! How about you talk about Minor V. Happersett and actually DO SOME REAL GOOD!!!??
Newt is doing the right thing. He is not going to get mired up in the nitpickies of an episode that happened years ago. It is over, let’s move on.
Teddy Kennedy renting out an entire bordello in South America is still hard to top.
I think its funny they assigned a mixed-race woman to attack Newt. Better to use someone in a double protected class than risk using the womanizing AND MARRIED Matt Lauer making them look really stupid.
I agree, and I really think it comes down to what the explanation is and whether he’s being truthful about it. Clinton was a scumbag for getting BJs in the Oval Office while on the phone with God-knows-who, and that was probably the most innocent thing he did (Kathleen Willey and Juanita Broderick anyone?). Not to mention his subsequent perjury which led to his impeachment and disbarment.
If this is simply a guy asking his wife for an open marriage, I gotta say, I don’t really care. Not all sex scandals are created equal, regardless of what the Obama Media want you to think. I view this the same as I did with Herman Cain—if he’s honest and up-front about it, fine. If he starts bending over backwards to lie about it and obfuscate the issue, then he needs to step aside.
They would if they could, but they are not sharp enough.
Newt is the best at extemporaneous speech, and that is the thing some times get him in trouble.
99.7% Newt is spot on, but that .03 % of the time is what gets him in the soup.
Remember the old story, build a thousand bridges and they'll call you Joe the bridge builder, but s*** a single **** and forever more you are now, Joe the **** ******.
Newt always has the right answer. This is about a relationship from several years ago. The MSM looks really small doing this. Newt could really turn this around to make them look worse than him.
As for Marianne, I can understand her having bad feelings, but after all these years, to come out and air your own dirty laundry, just makes her look so bitter.
What tantrum?
Can you show me the tantrum?
Didn’t think so.
Thanks for playing.
Bill Clinton has been unfaithful to but one wife only because that is all he has had. However, no one has yet accused Newt of rape. Can’t say the same for Clinton.
We have Obama because Rove/Bush/Republicans adopted the New Tone method of not criticizing democrats. This is akin to a boxer who wont throw punches. Newt is surging because he fights back - both Dems and Drive-Bys. As Lincoln said of Grant: I cant spare the man, he fights!
The last time I felt this much pride in a leader was with President Reagan and “GUTSY SARAH”.
Thank God for Newt!
Let’s roll, it’s going to get bloody.
Good Lord, you see Annie being THIS dismissive and snotty to Obama? I mean ...it just isn’t done.
Wish I could walk up to her and slap her across her face.
How’s that for angry and bitter?
That’s a reasoned response. I still maintain this is something I would ask my kids not to respond to.
There are only two people who know if what his wife said was true or not. His daughters mean well, but their opinions about this are worthless.
This really reveals the extent of how vile cheating is. When you cheat on your wife, it’s in some ways more like cheating on just about everyone.
Here we are discussing his moral fiber, and with reason. And neither of us is particularly sure how bad it was/is. Does Newt view his fidelity to his wives to take second place when compared to his fidelity to the public?
Is he more faithful to our expectations, than the expectations of his wives? Perhaps so. And if so, what does that say about the guy?
I’m not a fan of Newt, but this causes me to not only squirm because of him, but also to squirm for him. Still, as I said before, Newt has nobody to blame for this but himself.
I don’t recall Slick Willy repenting, converting, and seeking forgiveness.
LOL. Okay, now picture Pelosi just off-camera, and him saying, “Hey baby, want to share me with Conservatives?”
That would be a good one!
