Robert Redford, actor and outspoken environmentalist, applauded President Obama's decision to reject the Keystone XL pipeline on Wednesday. In a column on the Huffington Post, Redford – who questioned the president's commitment to the environment a few months ago – wrote:

Private oil is not “Big Oil”. Private companies own about 5 percent of the oil in the world.
Government oil is “Really Big Oil”. They are the 95 percent.
Opec is Big Oil. Department of the Interior is Big Oil. Saudi Aramco is Big Oil. PDVSA is Big Oil.
American oil companies typically work as contractors to “Really Big Oil”.

I stood next to Robert Redford at the maitre d’ stand at a restaurant on Cape Cod. I’m 6’1”. He was wearing cowboy boots with 3” heels and only came up to my chin. He is downright petite.

Back around 2005 I had a manager who had to fly out to Phoenix to attend a pension benefits seminar where Redford was a guest speaker. He said all that redford spoke about was environmentalism, nothing relating to the the seminar.
