NEWT EX-WIFE UNLOADS ON CAMERA; NETWORK DEBATES 'ETHICS' OF AIRING BEFORE SC PRIMARY
**Exclusive** Wed Jan 18 2012 18:47:14 ET
Marianne Gingrich has said she could end her ex-husband's career with a single interview.
Earlier this week, she sat before ABCNEWS cameras, the DRUDGE REPORT has learned.
She spoke to ABCNEWS reporter Brian Ross for two hours, and her explosive revelations are set to rock the trail.
But now a "civil war" has erupted inside of the network, an insider claims, on exactly when the confession will air!

ABCNEWS suits determined it would be "unethical" to run the Marianne Gingrich interview so close to the South Carolina Primary, a curious decision, one insider argued, since the network has aggressively been reporting on other candidates.
A decision was tentatively made to air the interview next Monday, after all votes have been counted.
Gingrich canceled a press conference on Wednesday to deal with the matter.
"He believes that what he says in public and how he lives don't have to be connected," Marianne Gingrich, Newt's wife of 18 years, explained to ESQUIRE last year.

UPDATE: The AP reports ABC is now likely to air the segment Thursday on NIGHTLINE.

I take the meaning of “debates ethics of airing before SC Primary” as meaning, there isn’t anything new or damaging and all it will do is undermine whatever credibility that media has left by trying to backstab Newt.
Isn’t Larry Sinclair dead now? They probably buried him in the stained blue jeans.
Sad to say but with these revalations,Newt is toast
ABC torn between ethics and a cheap shot at Newt. The cheap shot wins every time.
If you want to know just how despicable Newt’s behavior is with women in his life (not just his ex-wives) go to the link for the Equire article and read the whole interview. You will be shocked and astounded. It’s not only what ex-wife No. 2 said, it is what other women said also, as well as Marianne. Newt’s track record is astounding. The only thing that has slowed him down now is that he got old.
Below is an excerpt from Marianne Gingrich (wife No. 2) and others interviews with Esquire Magazine, with a link provided in the middle of the excerpt and at the end:
“She sounds proud, defiant, maybe a little wistful. You might be inclined to think of what she says as the lament of an abandoned wife, but that would be a mistake. There is shockingly little bitterness in her, and she often speaks with great kindness of her former husband. She still believes in his politics. She supports the Tea Parties. She still uses the name Marianne Gingrich instead of going back to Ginther, her maiden name.
But there was something strange and needy about him. He was impressed easily by position, status, money, she says. He grew up poor and always wanted to be somebody, to make a difference, to prove himself, you know. He has to be historic to justify his life.
She says she should have seen the red flags. He asked me to marry him way too early. And he wasnt divorced yet. I should have known there was a problem.
Within weeks or months?
Within weeks.
Thats flattering.
She looks skeptical. Its not so much a compliment to me. It tells you a little bit about him.
And he did the same thing to her eighteen years later, with Callista Bisek, the young congressional aide who became his third wife. I know. I asked him. Hed already asked her to marry him before he asked me for a divorce. Before he even asked.
He told you that?
Yeah, he wanted to

... The next day, Gingrich called Marianne into his office and told her he had come to a decision. He was going to step down as Speaker. And resign from Congress, too, though he had just won another term. Later that week, on a conference call with a few party confidants, Gingrich said, Im willing to lead but Im not willing to preside over people who are cannibals... . Frankly, Marianne and I could use a break. His political career was over.
In the history books Gingrich loves, exile is a defining moment when a leaders true strength of character is revealed. But his own behavior just became more erratic in the months after his fall. Some days he was full of bravado, conspiring with Duberstein and Marianne on a five-year plan to restore his reputation and rebuild his power base so he could run for president someday. He even turned down an American Express commercial that would have paid $500,000, Marianne says, because acting in a commercial didnt have sufficient gravitas for a man of his once and future stature. And he got some good news from the IRS, which said his college course didnt violate the tax laws after all.
But other days, Gingrich was bleak and hopeless. He was like a dead weight at times like that, Marianne says. You just couldnt get him to move. The contrast reminded her of his mother and her manic depression, and she told him he needed help.
But Marianne was having problems of her own. After going to the doctor for a mysterious tingling in her hand, she was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis.
Early in May, she went out to Ohio for her mothers birthday. A day and a half went by and Newt didnt return her calls, which was strange. They always talked every day, often ten times a day, so she was frantic by the time he called to say he needed to talk to her.
About what?
He wanted to talk in person, he said.
I said, No, we need to talk now.
He went quiet.
Theres somebody else, isnt there?
She kind of guessed it, of course. Women usually do. But did she know the woman was in her apartment, eating off her plates, sleeping in her bed?
She called a minister they both trusted. He came over to the house the next day and worked with them the whole weekend, but Gingrich just kept saying she was a Jaguar and all he wanted was a Chevrolet. I cant handle a Jaguar right now. He said that many times. All I want is a Chevrolet.
He asked her to just tolerate the affair, an offer she refused.
Hed just returned from Erie, Pennsylvania, where hed given a speech full of high sentiments about compassion and family values.
The next night, they sat talking out on their back patio in Georgia. She said, How do you give that speech and do what youre doing?
It doesnt matter what I do, he answered. People need to hear what I have to say. Theres no one else who can say what I can say. It doesnt matter what I live.
When they got to court, Gingrich refused to cooperate with basic discovery. Marianne and her lawyer knew from a Washington Post gossip column that Gingrich had bought Bisek a $450 bottle of wine, for example, but he refused to provide receipts or answer any other questions about their relationship.
Then Gingrich made a baffling move. Because Bisek had refused to be deposed by Mariannes attorney, Newt had his own attorney depose her, after which the attorney held a press conference and announced that she had confessed to a six-year affair with Gingrich. He had also told the press that he and Marianne had an understanding.
Right, Marianne says now.
That was not true?
Of course not. Its silly.

I heard Beck call him a dirt bag this morning and say whoever supports him does not believe in character so I guess forgiveness is only for certain people when it comes to past sins and Beck is one of the few worthy of forgiveness.
Honestly, I actually believe that this is what Newt wanted and probably put to his wife. Separated, with a demanding political job, he offered her the status of “wife” in exchange for Calista on the side (personally, UGH!).
I recall him explaining his pecadillos re: Calista as “Having loved his country sooooo much, that he was forced to....blah blah blah” [paraphrased]
This is arrogance; and it isn’t the last of what the Democrat machine has in store for him if he gets the GOP nod. Nancy WILL release every piece of dirt, innuendo and supposition regardless of House rules. If Newt did this twice (cheated), it is better than even odds he’s done it more times than that.
That said, I would dearly love to see Newt utterly humiliate our Halfrican Muslim Affirmative Action President in a debate to the point where Obama has to look off-stage to get direction from his handlers as he babbles on incoherently.
You should be listening to Beck and their sycophantic rantings trying to deal with the truth about Romney...they are so far Romney’s butt they found his undisclosed tax records.
Listening to him anymore makes me feel as dirty as returning from visiting the Democrat Underground.
Apparently she says nothing she hasn’t said before.
And btw, didn’t this gal mess around with Newt behind Wife#1’s back? Not like she didn’t know what she was getting. Not like she’s miss holy.
Pretty much describes all 3 of Newties beauties, huh? This is so sleazy it makes me ill. Newt shouldn't be allowed withing walking distance of the White House.
Beck is a MORMON. He has Maroni forgiveness from the Book of Mormons which is better. Of course the fact that Glenn was laying in the gutter with a crack pipe in one hand and a martini glass in the other while Newt was reforming welfare and balancing the budget has no bearing on anything.
From the Yahoo start page I read that the whole thing is nothing more than dragging the same mud through the house that has been dragged in before. A bitter woman ,guilty of adultary herself crying in her soup about how bad she was treated when Newt succombed to the wiles of another woman just like her.
She got him the same way Callista did,she threw her legs open. The same way his schoolteacher wife got him when he was a boy.
There is an old saying.
“Bait a trap with P___Y and you will trap old Newt every time.
Many is the man who has been caught the same way, and many is the man who would have been caught if the facts were known.
Doesn’t make Newt a great human being, but it doesn’t stop him from being the best man for our country in 2012 either.
Great debater. Sharp, quick mind. Deep personal moral failings. I think there is something wrong with him in fact. Something is just not right. Way too many corroborated stories from Capitol Hill days, an open secret so to speak by many colleagues. We would all be piling on if he were a liberal rather than rationalizing it away and attacking the ex wife. My I hope he has truly had a Road to Damascus. If he has sewn his wild oats and gotten it out of his system, he can be forgiven. The Presidency is very serious and takes a very strong man what with all those swooning women incessantly around him in the West Wing, Clinton showed us that much.
ABC isn’t debating “ethics”. They are trying to decide if they want to unload this before or after South Carolina.
The cat is out of the bag. They know that this is totally unethical and obviously so.
ABC can forget covering their ass. Their big red ass has been exposed for many years now.
Spot on, AIT! I don't know if he has had a Road to Damascus moment. My personal opinion is to give him the benefit of the doubt and assume that he has. His conversion to Roman Catholicism is actually a step in the right direction. Not because I'm a Catholic myself, but because I know Catholics are not particularly lenient on divorce, to put it mildly. It may be Newt's way of saying he's not going back down that road. I hope so.
But I also know that a lot of women voters (plus a few men) which might otherwise be inclined to vote GOP will take a pass on Newt precisely because of this past. And it isn't if, it is when the enemedia decides to make a major issue of it. They can't play that card with Romney, Paul, Perry or Santorum. So I'm supporting the most viable conservative of those four. Guess who that is?
The media can’t save Obama because the spaz has screwed up to many things, color him gone.
AND all that matters today is Perry saying "I ENDORSE/TRUST/FORGIVE Newt!" which is the Christian way... :~)
THANK YOU, Texas (155 delegates) & Gov Perry!
GO NEWT!!!
Speaker Gingrich-led Republicans
.the result: * Voting on each of the Contract with America items * Four consecutive balanced budgets * Over $400 billion of debt paid off * Major welfare reform accomplished * 11 million new jobs for America * Unemployment falling to under 4%.
The correct calculation is number of people who have ever divorced divided by the number of people who have ever married. That number is closer to 40%.
