You forget his disdain for the Tea Party and his endorsement of Scuzzafava.
Also, I’ll never forgive him for allowing the liberals to frame the impeachment as a sexual issue, not a perjury issue. Then, after being battered, he resigns, citing his affair, further bolstering claims that it was about sex, not about perjury.
He often is happy to provide an assist to his “liberal friends across the aisle.” and for that reason alone, I don’t trust him.
His recent attacks on capitalism demonstrate that he is dedicated not to conservative principles or advancing conservatism, but rather to himself.
my problem with newt is his off-the-cuff, flippant ‘solutions’ he has to every perceived problem - many are bad ideas that he will defend at all costs - and most involve yet another government program
it is NOT a government function to instill a strong work ethic in kids - instead of saying that, newt’s ‘solution’ is another government program
newt is smart - but not as smart as he thinks he is
For some, he may be saying the right things while running for office, but all too recently he was trashing conservatives and everything they stood for (remember Paul Ryan, anyone?). A couple of empty soundbites or gotcha applause lines in a debate are not enough to make ammends.
