Fellow Conservative,
Americans have been down this road before.
At various times both parties nominated boring candidates because they were considered "electable". In every one of those cases, they weren't electable at all. Now Republicans are again thinking about nominating another bland and boring candidate for President Mitt Romney.
If we don't love our candidate, how can we expect Democrats and Independents to?
We must stop him in South Carolina with a BOLD conservative who can contrast himself starkly with President Obama and inspire Americans to vote for him.
In the South Carolina polls, I am running just behind Romney and am poised to defeat him. I need your support to close the deal.
Since 1980, every Republican nominee has won South Carolina.
Bursting onto the scene in Iowa, conservatives reacted to my emergence as the conservative challenger to Mitt Romney by pouring in over $3 million to my campaign. Now, South Carolina polls have me within striking distance of Mitt Romney- who has committed millions in ads to the state already.
I urgently need your support so we can match Mitt Romneys spending dollar for dollar in South Carolina. Your donation of $30, $50 or $75 is the difference between a South Carolina victory and 4 more years of President Obama. The days are numbered to make an impact.
Support Rick to help close the deal.
My record as a national conservative leader:
Co-wrote the Contract with America
Led the fight to reform welfare
Sponsored the bill banning partial birth abortion
Authored legislation imposing strong sanctions against Iran
As President, I will repeal Obamacare, re-write the tax code, and end Barack Obamas unprecedented interference in our economy. And I will pursue a bold economic plan that the Wall Street Journal calls bolder than Mr. Romneys.
Are you ready to join me?
Republicans cant afford a nominee who is unable to withstand the blistering attacks of Barack Obamas billion dollar campaign or even worse resemble Obama so much that he can't barely be distinguished from him.
With a clear record of results, I give the GOP the best chance to defeat Obama and put a conservative in the White House.
Be a part of this historic campaign by donating just $35. I will make your voice heard in Washington!
Sincerely,
Rick Santorum
P.S. If you've been holding out and waiting to make up your mind than now is the time. We must stop Romney in South Carolina. We must unite and guarantee a conservative standard bearer in 2012. We are poised for victory in South Carolina. Help us today to continue to build momentum with the most generous donation you can afford. If you cannot afford to give or have done so already, will you consider sharing this email with your family and friends?
No. I thought he was coming back to politics when he subbed on Fridays on the Bill Bennett show. Ditto, when he spoke at the Values Voters Summit a couple of years ago. When he came out for the presidential run, I was not surprised. This has been long in the making and not for Mitt.
Romney may or may not be electable, but Santorum lost his last election in his home state by 18%, the biggest losing margin for an incumbent Republican Senator in history.
And the budget under Santorum would be even bigger and more bloated than the budget under Romney.
Now, THAT is wild speculation. Santorum is NOT a big government guy, Linda. He was 1 of 100 senators and 1 of 435 representatives. He had to deal with reality as it existed during his 16 years in Washington.
Romney is a believer in big government and internationalism. AND, he is a phony and a socialist. He believes that it’s A-OK for a state to impose a mandate for everyone to buy a service that he or she doesn’t want. Don’t know about you, but I’ll be sick over a choice between two Democrats, hard left and soft left. Blessings, Bob
Good insights, Antoninus. I too have stopped watching “conservative” drivel in the media. Bob
Since Mitt’s annointing by the CPAC crowd in DC during the 2008 campaign and his “second place” status behind McCain, it was obvious Mitt was in this race as the GOP insider candidate since November of 2008 when McCain lost.
One of Romney’s big supporters was James Bopp Jr. a Deputy RNC Chairman and longtime general counsel of National Right To Life. NRL supported Santorum in his political career.
So since November of 2008 the Romney campaign has been preparing for this race and using all the tools it wanted to use to win it.
Rick did get out there with a strong message in recent years but hasn’t backed away from supporting establishment type Pro-Abortion Republicans like Lisa Murkowski in Alaska.
He said it was OK for her write-in campaign to beat GOP Tea Party candidate Joe Miller in 2010 because Murkowski would “vote with the Republicans.”
In faith or family values I don’t question Rick Santorum, but in politics I do.
Rick rallies the anti-Mormon conservative religious vote and effectively keeps it away from other conservative candidates.
Santorum has a chance to prove he means it in applying pro-life principle to this race.
ATTACK ROMNEY WHO NOW SAYS ‘I’VE ALWAYS BEEN PRO-LIFE’ WHEN IN THE PAST ROMNEY SAID HE BELIEVED IN A ‘WOMAN’S RIGHT TO CHOOSE.
RICK MUST ASK WHICH MITT ROMNEY IS TELLING THE TRUTH......
Rick Santorum has been cited as a supporter of Medicare Part D, big government from RINO’s at its best.
Medicare D was a budget busting, deficit increasing mistake.
Nope.
GO NEWT GO...
Exciting enough to inspire their fellow countrymen to greatness, or at the very least, to get to the polls on election day.
Exactly how he would deal with reality as it exists in Washington now. He’ll find a huge budget already, and go with the flow, meaning try to paper it over for another 4 years.
I don’t know that Romney’d be any better. The only guy trustworthy in this bunch for real cuts is Ron Paul.
Its a talking point because its a hard fact. Where does the guy get the balls to run for President and claim he’s electable when he lost by 18% as an incumbent?
Why do you want to run a proven loser against Obama? That’s a risky proposition if you don’t want to see Obama elected again.
Santorum would fire up the left and lose to Obama by 10-20.
I hope the post that he is putting it all in in SC is correct, and when he finishes somewhere other than first he’ll go home and quit muddying the race.
You could take the record of ANY contemporary Congressman, including Ron Paul, and cherry pick votes that make him appear like a drunken sailor with a weekend pass. That’s b/c of Christmas tree bills, in part. But Mr. Paul is a menace on foreign policy, ans Santorum is a realist. Paul is the GOP’s Neville Chamberlain. The rules of engagement are set by the agressors, and there are fiends in every corner of the world. Paul supporters can’t accept this, and blame America, and Israel, first. Every time I hear or read a Paul supporter’s defense of him, I feel melancholic, and it solidifies my fear that our freedom will soon perish. You are good people, and even many of YOU can’t accept the intractability of the fight between good and evil, or maybe you can’t tell our enemies from our friends. It’s all crazy, IMO. Bob
There is no “Conservative” Mass Media...I have no idea what Chris Wallace or anyone else on FOX would be called??
