Did you know that many of the talk radio hosts that you listen to on a regular basis use the same company to broadcast their shows? Clear Channel boasts names like Glenn Beck, Rush Limbaugh, Sean Hannity, Mark Levin, and even Coast to Coast AM!
Michael Savage is TRN, but is on a lot of Clear Channel stations.
Clear Channel is the largest owner of radio stations in the United State [...]
Did you know that Clear Channel is owned (in large part) by Bain Capital?
On Friday, November 17, 2006, Clear Channel announced that it was going private and selling off almost one-third of its radio assets... The buyers, led by Bain Capital Partners and Thomas H. Lee Partners, agreed to pay $26.7 billion for the company.
Bain Capital was founded by Mitt Romney. Mitt is retired now, but he still profits from Bain Capital according to the New York Times.
Clear Channel Communications is a privately owned company controlled by the private equity companies Bain Capital Partners LLC and Thomas H. Lee Partners LP. Clear Channel was sold for $18.7 billion in cash plus the assumption of $8 billion in debt. The transaction closed on July 24, 2008. The operating company which technically owns Clear Channel is called CC Media Holdings, Inc.
Think about that the next time you're flipping channels on the radio and realize that Rush Limbaugh calls the candidates "Romney", "Non-Romney", and "Loony"...
Why do these other candidates get called "Non-Romney"?
Do you think you'll be hearing about this story in most of the media sources you frequent?
Then it's up to you to get the word out. (Especially since by sharing tips like this I help cement that I won't ever become one of those big names in talk radio)

So by that logic, if I own any shares of GE, I must be a fan and supporter of Chris Matthews and Rachel Maddow.
You can put away the tinfoil, it's really that simple.
I listen to Rush. Rush led a vigorous attack against Conservative icon Gingrich for a Super Pack Adv against Romney, saying an attack against Romney is an attack against Capitalism. Then he got up off his knees, and washed it all down with some blueberry ice tea.
At best, Rush is a party-line Republican along with every other talk radio host that I know of. They try to “talk tough” about Romney, but once he clinches the nomination, they’ll relent from their half-assed opposition and start lecturing us about how it’s our duty to support Socialist R.
Now uf you want a true Romney fan, look at Michael Savage. I don’t know whether his inferiority complex stems from being in Rush’s shadow, being banned in Britain, or being banned from the media at large, but he’s ready and willing to cozy up to anyone who makes him feel important. Before I stopped listening to him, I remember him saying that he met Romney for dinner and thought he was a great guy. A few weeks later, guess what? He offers Newt a million dollars to drop out and starts extolling the virtues of Willard Romney the open socialist.
Rush is still befuddled over Newt sounding like a OWS lunatic! Rush has NOT endorsed a canidate yet. Rush is still having a hard time accepting that NONE of the standing candidates are truly conservative.
“Then he got up off his knees, and washed it all down with some blueberry ice tea.”
Rush in not the only one on his knees. Some on this thread seamed to have joined him.
Glad to see others recognizing this for the crap it is.
Nonsense. Rush, and rightly in my opinion, called Newt on his anti-capitalist attacks. Are you sure you are listening to Rush and not someone else?
Rush will support the Republican nominee regardless who it is. I suspect most conservatives will. But I don’t think Rush is a Romney tool. He pushed for Romney in 2008 but only after the last three choices standing were McCain, Romney and Huckabee.
Rush is also a fiscal conservative more than a social conservative (IOW, if he had to choose between a candidate who will cut taxes and a candidate who will ban gay marriage, he’ll tend to opt for the one who will cut taxes.
But he seems clearly to prefer a more principled conservative than Romney. Any of them are a damn sight better than McCain and Rush eventually fell on his sword and endorsed McCain.
Your desperation is shown by the strawness of your argument.
Santorium is the “social justice”, ILLEGAL immigration lover and the Pork King. Also his shenanigan with LIVING in Virginia and pretending he has a house in PA. to have his Pa. school district foot the bill for his VA house to be Internet wired didn't go over very well either. The SHACK and I mean a DUMPY SHACK that he claimed his tribe livid in was outrageous! Eventually Santorium was hauled into court and had to pay back the PA school district for the money he had PA TAX PAYERS put out to educate his kids long distance. The next year,Santorium “home schooled” his kids. God only knows what more he will feel ENTITLED to if he is our nominee. He was just a measly Senator then and THROWN OUT the next election cycle. People in PA HATE Santorim.
Perry and Newt are both imploding. Neither has EVER worked in the private sector. Neither relates to business. BOTH relate to throwing money down a rat hole with tax payer dollars. Mitt might just get the nominee. Yes the MORMON might just win with all this idioitc anti-capital rhetori by career politicians is helping to make that a reality.
So you really think that Clear Channel tells Rush Limbaugh who to support?
If so, that makes you delusional. Rush could tell Clear Channel to kha and CC would pucker up, regardless of who owns them.
The fact that any one of his millions of listeners will tell you that he is not particularly a Mitt supporter apparently doesn’t matter to you.
Is your candidate of choice Ron Paul by chance?
What are you doing posting this crap from a 20 something year old democrat political activist then expecting us to agree with her claims? This thread needs to be pulled......
First, Romney doesn’t own Bain Capital and Bain doesn’t own Clear Channel. Bain owns 1/3 of Clear Channel that owns the network that syndicates Rush, Mark Levin, Sean Hannity and others. Second, if Bain were stupid enough to try to dictate what these major radio personalities should or shouldn’t say about Romney, Bain would probably be involved in something that violates contracts in place before Bain bought a minority share in Clear Channel. Besides, as a minority owner, they wouldn’t be in a position to dictate anything. If Rush and the rest were suddenly gone from Clear Channel, the owners would suffer an immediate financial loss, but from one tiny portion of the Bains vast corporate holdings. Trying to influence radio hosts to be positive or not negative about Romney would be like a business purchasing KFC and then telling it to sell tofurky burgers. It wouldn’t accomplish anything useful and would only destroy the brand.
It doesn’t matter to Rush WHO owns the company. It’s not something folks normally talk about.
BTW, WHO owns CNN? ABC? NMC? MSNBC?
Does it really matter?
You are being VERY silly ....
What Newt, who I am a huge fan of was saying was anti-capatalism period! He deserved to be called out on it and pay the price. Bad advice from some sh!tty consultant. Now I pray everyday and give money to the one campaign that can derail Mitt and that is Newts. But if he goes anti free market he’s done and he will have let the left wing of the RNC bait him into that corner. His arguement should have been about croney capatalism with Bain and the criminal bailout of billionaires by the US government.
